As for the lightning, i have been closer than that(not by choice).

My son and I were watching the storm out the living room window when the lightning hit the tree next to the driveway,3 feet from my truck. To this day my son does not like storms anymore and the truck...well it was deader than dead and has probably been melted down and made into an ashtray by now.

here's another freaky weather photo: the dead man walking, they say that if you see it in a tornado you will not live through it,... which is impossible since there are pics of it, but it still is creepy :o
