Title: The Sopranos
Post by: Homer on February 28, 2006, 02:21:49 PM
Is anyone getting revved up for the start of the Sopranos in a little over a week? 8) (https://www.pogocheats.net/proxy/?http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/e/armed.gif)

This can be the official thread.

To prevent SPOILERS wait until Mondays to start discussing that nights episode.

Yay for starting this topic Homer!  I love love love this show!

I read in TV Guide yesterday that this is definitely the last season, although it will be split up and "bonus episodes" are set to air Jan. 07.

I haven't heard anything about a movie...

The Sopranos is great entertainment. I've watched all the seasons "on demand" these last few months,  but really...........A mob boss seeing a shrink?  That would never be accepted.  Maybe Tony will get lucky with Melfi this season.  woo hoo!

a guy at work was talking with me about the last episode and he said what do you think should happen ...Tony gets killed or goes to jail....I said I would love to see him ride off into the sunset on his boat....I guess we will all have to wait and see!!!!

ok I missed it sunday and just now watched it....excellent!!!

thank GOD Tony is awake...couldn't stand the dreams anymore.....I just knew that was gonna be his cousin standing there at the "Inn at the Oaks"....that was good

I think Tony is gonna remember seeing the money Mel put on the bedside table and he's gonna be pissed she didn't get it right away like she should of.....the guys are gonna have to answer for that.....I think some heads are gonna roll or Tony is gonna realise he can't trust ANYONE and Maybe it is time for him to get out?......I thought he COULD trust Chris...but now he wants out too?

Interesting to say the least!!!! I can't wait for next week!!!!

I know!  :))

I know some of you were annoyed by the dreams...but I love the psychological aspect of this show.  Those two episodes were such a great look inside Tony's mind and how he really feels about himself...and I think that Edie Falco was so amazing portraying Carmella...if she doesn't win an Emmy for that, it will be a shame...

Oh, and did anyone else think that the woman on the phone, who was supposed to be Tony/Kevin's wife sounded an awful lot like Adrianna?

I thought for sure he was gonna see her....I do not think he will let Chris out of the business cause Tony will feel hes the only one he can trust NOW......I am starting to think Tony is gonna get killed in the end now.....OR if Mel is with him at the time she will take the bullet for him cause she was really freaked at the thought of him dying........AND I think it will be the least likely person we can think of......I was thinking Chris.....they will get tighter now but Chris will resent Tony NOT letting him go.....OR my favorite choice is MEADOW!!!

the son is gonna really start losing it.... him n Mel will really start fighting now and Meadow is gonna shot Tony because of it......holy poop wouldn't that be a killer ending.....or Mel takes the bullet and Tony just runs and sails off for parts unknown on his boat????

OR what if he didn't see Adrienne because shes NOT dead....they left her for dead but she survived....comes back and shots Tony????

OR his shrink gets scarred of him again and shots him?????

there are so many posibilities it makes you nuts....lol....I hope it was ok to say my predictions in this thread.....I can't help it I am always trying to figure what might happen......but I NEVER READ SPOILERS...so dont think I got these ideas anywhere but from my own head.....lol.

oh yeah good thought l0c0....i didnt think of that one.....OR it could be Mel that kills him becuase they are making us think she wouldn't do it.....they always lead you away from the one who ends up doing it....which makes it predictable BUT there are soo soo many possibilities on this show it makes you crazy.....MAYBE Tony will kill himself becuase he sees NO other way out....that would suck though.....anyway we will have to wait and see......exciting isn't it!!!!!

I think he is still sick from the gunshot. I couldn't see him getting sick from a simple beatdown.

How about Vito getting caught? He looks like he will whack himself.

I hope vito does whack himself but i have a feeling he will chicken out....i cant stand the guy...i think Tonys post-op stress or whatever the shrink called it is goin to be surfacing shortly...will be interesting to see.....how about when he asked for a mercy-lay....oh my gawd i was like....did he just say that?!?!? too funny  :))

Maybe it was just my imagination, but I thought that Tony was vomitting up blood in that last scene...Right before that, Mr. Foxx and I were all like "Why is he looking at them all like that?"...Then, he picks the biggest guy in the room to face the beatdown...Nice management style, Ton...

Here's my thoughts on Vito.  Correct me if I am wrong, but I was pretty sure he was in New York and those two guys he saw were New York guys...I wasn't sure you could find a gay S&M club in Jersey...but, again, I could be wrong.  Anywho, that may mean it takes longer for anyone to find out about his sexual preferences...I hate him too, but I do feel really bad for him.  Anyone who cannot truly be who they are because of whatever fear controlls them...I just feel bad.

Previews for next week looked like a lot of chit was gonna go down...

I  <3 carmella, btw.

I've been checking on eBay and for the first 5 seasons it's in the $90-105 range. I didn't think that was too bad considering Best Buy was over $300.
Title: Re: The Sopranos

I'm guessing Vito doesn't have the courage to kill himself but he is able to kill the two fellows who spotted him in the gay club.  That's what I think he is going to do.  Get them before they talk. I know I'm outnumbered on that opinion and I'm probably wrong.  hahaha

The fellow that Tony beat up can thank Dr. Melfi for that.  Tony seemed happy afterwards even though he got sick.

I think Tony is going to start going off especially after Johnny Sac's own guys are losing respect because he cried as the feds took him away from his daughter's wedding. He's gotta show that he is strong and I think he will. ;)

Title: Re: The Sopranos
Post by: foxx on April 17, 2006, 09:09:51 AM
I absolutely adored last night's episode.  The social commentary was outstanding; the nuances subtle.  Wasn't it amazing that Tony went from agreeing with (I almost  :x-ed) Ick Santorum to being almost okay with Vito's lifestyle choice?  I find it amazing that people learn from family, social groups, etc. and form their opinions based on very little outside information.  But once something which challenges your "opinion" happens (in this case, Tony's best earner and a captain being outed), you tend to rethink your stance.  If only more people would open their eyes and walk in someone else's shoes, we'd have a much nicer world...

...I still think they are gonna whack him though.  Paulie won't have it any other way.

They asked James Gandolfini who was going to get wacked and he said he was, but then he kind of smirked and walked away.

The episode starts off with a flashback of Johnny Sacks getting pinched by the  ;:" They show Tony running away and tossing his gun in the snow. Next thing you know the  ;:" are at Tony's house 3 years later and arrest him on gun charges because a kid found the gun and said Tony put it there. The  ;:" drop the charges and Tony goes to see Janice and Bobby. Everyone gets drunk and Tony and Bobby get into a fist fight. The next day Tony and Bobby go out on business and Tony asks Bobby to do his first hit. One problem though. Bobby was extremely sloppy on the hit and likely left DNA evidence and the weapon at the scene of the crime. Pretty much end of the show after that.

Saw James Gandolfini in person last Friday..they were filming the final scenes for the last season where my wife works Long Branch, NJ area...over heard the crew talking to the public onlookers that it takes 8hours to film just 2 minutes of what is shown on screen (thats unreal). Was watching the part when Tony was coming down the street in a Van..problem that wasn't him..was a backup..they only film Tony in the Van on close ups (should of knew that lol). They even had a large fan on a flat bed trailer and water tanker to do the rainstorm effects..didn't stay long to see it all tho...but was nice to watch a tad of it!

I've never watched the show, but when I read this article this morning  knew there were going to be a few unhappy ppl here, Homer you made me laugh "wuss", that sums up why never got hooked on the show.

Did 'Sopranos' finale go out with a bang or a whimper?
Hal Boedeker
Sentinel Television Critic

June 11, 2007

Did you think your HBO had gone out?

The Sunday series finale of The Sopranos could be best remembered for throwing the audience in the final moments. Mob boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and son A.J. (Robert Iler) were dining out. Meadow (Jamie-Lynn Sigler) was having trouble parking her car.

Men continued entering the restaurant, heightening the dread that perhaps Tony was going to be whacked. Meadow ran toward the restaurant, Tony looked up, and the screen faded to black for an unusually long time.

That was all, folks. Your cable hadn't failed you.

This series finale had to be considered a disappointment for anyone expecting a definitive, socko ending. In a more poignant scene, Tony visited Uncle Junior (Dominic Chianese). Tony realized the older mobster, who had bedeviled him for years, was hopelessly senile.

In the most violent scene, rival mobster Phil Leotardo (Frank Vincent) was shot in the head. Then a vehicle ran over his skull, sickening onlookers.

In the lighter moments, Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico) was freaked out by a cat that stared at a poster of Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli). But when last seen, Paulie and the cat were sunning themselves.

The final moments of the Soprano dinner came after A.J. repeatedly tested his parents in the last episode. A.J. burned up his $30,000 car. He also flirted with joining the Army, which stunned his parents. At the fade-out, A.J. had found a job in filmmaking.

Series creator David Chase, who wrote and directed the finale, gave it a life-goes-on feel with no definite resolutions for Tony's immediate family. For a show that was considered one of the greatest dramas in television history, the ending wasn't that dramatic. But it leaves open the possibility that Chase could revisit Tony and serve a more compelling conclusion.

Supposedly there were multiple endings they had taped. I guess we'll have to wait for the director's cut dvd to see the other endings. Paulie and the cat was pretty funny. What a putz AJ was parking his car in a pile of leaves and trying to get busy as his car caught fire.
