Is it just me, or is it that the vast majority of Wal-mart employees are dumb as shovels??? I made a purchase and the cashier didn't give me one of my bags. Seeing as I live 40 miles from the Supercenter, i wasn't about to go back for 40 bux worth of merchandise in the same day. It was 9:00pm when i got home, and I called customer service and they said they would help me, if i came back to the store, grant it they never said I would receive the items in my bag. I callled them again this morning and they told me they could not refund my money OR give me my items. I asked what should I do. They told me there was really nothing they can do to help me. So pretty much they bluntly said it sux to be me. I was wondering if anyone has had similiar problems with these idiots and any suggestions on how to resolve my problem? Thanks for the input!
Go to <a href="http://www.walmartmovie.com">http://www.WalMartMovie.com</a> to see funny stuff about WalMart. Yes WalMart is the end of all that is good but we've already knew that.
I've left a bag or item behind before (and not just at Wal-Mart) and it's never been a problem. I called, let them know my situtation, told them I had just been there, told them I had the reciept and would bring back the bags I did have. They checked with the cashier I had and he/she had set the bag aside.
However. If the cashier was not paying attention to whether or not you had all of your items, and the next person in line just grabbed your bag as a bonus freebie...there's nothing they can really do. At that point the cashier was an idiot not doing their job and the next person or persons in line were oppurtunists and sneaks. Honestly, how many people these days say anything if you drop some money from your wallet or you forget to grab something from the bottom of your shopping cart? Not many.
I had a run in with a Wal-Mart manager up state from me. They charged me the wrong price, so I went to the customer service desk and informed them of the error and asked for my "Ten times the difference plus the difference" which is state law (There is a cap on the amount they can give you). The manager fought with me over and over again telling me that they can't do that. So finally I told her to go check it out or I would just call the attorney general's office and check it out myself *cell phone in hand*. Funny, when she checked it out she pretty much slapped the money in my hand and gave me the look of death.
The other day I got out of my car at Wal-Mart with my mother. I took her wheelchair around the side of the car so I could transfer her into it and I saw about thirty dollars lying beside the car next to us. They had just gotten in and were ready to pull out, so I grabbed the money and tapped on her window. Scared the bahjesus out of her, but when she found out that I had her money (that she had her purse open trying to figure out where it had gone) and confirmed the amount she was missing...she was really pleased that I was honest enough to give it to her and not take it.
It's the little things that people don't do anymore- Open doors for the elderly or disabled, return things to their rightful owners, say "Excuse me" "Please" "Thank you" "Do you need help with that", etc. I do what I can, but some people are just idiots anymore.
Sorry to hear about your misadventures at Wal-Mart. They really should have been on top of something like that.

I was a customer service manager at walmart for many years and if merchandise is left behind it gets logged into a book at the customer service desk. They should have all your items logged there and I would specifically call and ask to speak to that dept. They will of course need your reciept and they will ask you for some information to verify it like the register number and the time of the occurence.
If that gets you no where then demand to speak to the store manager and he or she should be able to help you out. Store managers at walmart will bend over backwards to help you and keep you happy for fear that you will complain about them to the home office.
Hope that helps.
I tried that...they have nothing logged and nothing was reported from that register. I even remember the number register i was on, the time i was there, and everything. I talked to the customer service desk and they acted as if I'd done lost my mind. Funny thing is, I use to work there as an Assistant Manager, and my how times have changed :o

The problem with people today (no one on this forum however), is they are selfish, snooty, and gon't give a flying fig about no ones feelings, property, ar money but their own. Grant it, if this had happened to them, they would more than likely be angry as well.
What I have decided to do, is carry my happy arse up in there this afternoon, cell phone in hand, and if the refuse to give me my money, I will go through chain of command, starting with home office and leading to corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, if I have to. I'm sick of thier crap anyways. Oh and the cashier was talking to another associate BEHIND her, so read between the lines. She's a friggin idiot. And if I was her manager...her happy tail would have already been fired. >:D
You guys have got to visit http://jibjab.com/Home.aspx click on big box mart.....funny as heck moive..about 3-4 minutes long that pokes fun at big box reatail....LOL Oh..I also work in Loss Prevention (undercover store security) at walmart..yes I'm sorry this happened to you...and yes, walmart is as bad as they say...have any ??'s just give me a holler.
I used to work at one of the smallest Wal-Marts, where we did escort customers to the correct aisle and give good customer service, including the 10 foot rule. If Mr Sam were still around, there would be wholesale firings. Too bad his family took it in another direction. Maybe if Wal-Mart paid a living wage, they could get a better class of help.
Although I can't apologize for the morinic losers that work at walmart, I can say that when I did that too customers and I noticed it I would put my next customer on hold and tried to run them down to give them thier merchandise. Yes a bunch of them are retarded and really shouldn't be working there but then what can you do. BTW retarded and handicapped are 2 different classes.....I once knew a guy in a wheelchair who was way smarter than regular employees lol. If the associates act like assholes, then my suggestion is go to the store manager then district manager. If this still doesn't help, call 1-800-walmart and ask to speak to LEE SCOTT which is the head CEO, he will get things done.
a living wage from walmart? whats that?
oh and BTW, to those who vote.......why is it we vote for rich people for president who don't give a crap about us. Maybe it is time to elect someone that works for the low wage that most of us have. If the president makes $200,000 and a general employee makes around $20,000, who do you think would really be there to help higher the standards of living? Just a thought for the 2012 elections lol.
I am glad to see there are more anti-walmart people in the world (especially here cause I think this is a great forum).
I haven't set foot in a wal-mart in 2 years, and I couldn't be happier...I know my tiny boycott is not hurting them in the here and now, but hopefully, others will follow.
As for the problem with the missing bag...they don't pay their employees enough to care. If that had been a local grocery store or a smaller mom and pop type outfit, your bag would have been there or there would have been an instant refund.
Thanks for the links to the walmart movie and jibjab...made my day.

did any of you notice the Walmart banners on this site. Kinda funny
This is a site (like many others) that has advertisements based on the topic of conversation. If this topic had mainly talks about "Toys R Us", you would see Toys R Us ads all over this page. It just depends on the topic of conversation and them pushing ads on us.
I'm not anti-Walmart...being on a very limited income causes me to poverty shop there. Then again, the Walmart in the town I live in has always had great employees 99% of the time. Very curteous, very helpful, and most know you by name.
As for the others I've visited in the state (including my run-in with the manager in Gaylord), I can see why people loath the store like they do.
Work is work, but how much effort does it take to not be a prick to the people buying from your store and paying your wages? I worked at Mervyn's during the Thanksgiving-New Year's holiday a few years ago...you will not believe how people act during their "First ____ customers for the ____ holiday sale get a free____". I'm a very layed back person...but it was an all out mind over matter effort to not snap at the shoppers. It's a choice...and a lot of retail employees choose not to make it.
Did anyone actually click on the link to wal-mart listed at the top of this page. I thought i was going to pee my drawers. I have never saw such a bunch of horse manure in all my born days. They are PRAISING how great and wonderful they are...roflmaoooooooo@ THAT. I suggest go to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and look at there 2 stores and they'd think differently. Can we say store shutdowns??? lmaooooooo.I wish >:D.
Can't say I have clicked on the link since the spiders on the web look for the word Wal-Mart and decides it seen Wal-Mart enough times to make ads on this page relate to Wal-Mart but recently, I haven't seen ads for Wal-Mart. I can only assume it's because the word Wal-Mart hasn't shown up enough lately so they think this topic is about something else. So if all else fails, I must type Wal-Mart a million times to see if they show more Wal-Mart related advertisements. Can't get enough of seeing Wal-Mart on the page instead of something useful (I would type a name in but I want to make sure I only mention Wal-Mart to see what happens). Oh well... guess beggers for Wal-Mart ads can't be chosers. Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart... hopefully that does it!
this is the link to how great and wonderful they are, in case you need a good belly laugh. http://factchecker.purpleocean.org/
Down with Wal-mart!
Call the home offices 800# and complain about that store. I guarantee you that something will be done.
great site!! I loved reading it...the sad thing is that it isn't just wally-world (our nickname for it) it tons of places around here. We had a Target and it closed becase Wal-mart and Meijer were doing more business...the Target was small and personal and you could find things....I've got to park 12 miles away just to "run in" to Wal mart to grab a couple things....but I'm with Snare on the fact that I'm on a limited income and wouldn't trade it for anything lol.... for every crapy person they've got...i've got a big smile and a crappy comeback for them lol
I just saw this in an article online today, and I think it pretty much sums it up...
"America's biggest, most powerful corporations are dinosaurs, even when sitting on giant hoards of cash. Remember when Microsoft was a hungry, inventive underdog, beating every time the clumsy, lumbering giants which still dominated the software landscape. Now it is a clumsy, lumbering giant, much worse than even IBM. Tens of millions of lines of code that it boasts inside its operating system is a pitiful argument-they are no more sign of a real innovation than that tens of millions tons of steel was the sign of economic strength of the later-day Soviet Union. Microsoft has barely produced anything remotely innovative in the last ten years (and neither have other behemoths like Intel or Cisco). All it can do is sit on its enormous bag of monopoly money and buy, destroy and stifle any emerging competition. Technology is stagnating in all these fields, irrespective of the ever growing gigahertz and gigabytes of technical specs.
But the "dark satanic mills" of the information revolution was not Microsoft or other software or internet companies. It was the Wal-Mart, and the likes of it, chewing the American backbone, making the new, retail proletariat, pauperizing its small-town communities. It is still aggressive and hungry, getting fatter and plodding ahead. But it is already stagnating in its core, unable to learn any new tricks. It can continue to destroy, but is hardly able to create anything new anymore-just shove larger portions of cheap junk at the consumer in its ever bigger caverns."
I don't like Wal Mart. Is it me, or is that where everyone in America takes their kids there to beat them?
Barbara,
It does seem that way about parents taking their kids there to beat them. And the ones who aren't being beaten are running amuck through the store screaming and acting like a bunch of ninnies. If we acted like anything other than perfect ladies and gentleman in a store, we would get our tails tore up (but not in the MIDDLE of the store; momma would wait till she got us home).
On a happier note, I got my refund after I threatened to call home office and report them. I took a small pocket-sized notebook with me and took names, just to get the point across that I meant business. By gravy, when the pen started moving, so did they. Butter could not have melted in their mouths; they were being that cordial!Ahhh, the joy of intimidation and threats...you get so much more out of life...lmaoooooooo. But remember...that's the wal-mart way...NOT.
wow worst store ever >:(
I'm sure my response won't be all that popular, but I feel it needs to be said.
As an aforementioned "dumb as a shovel" Walmart employee, I have to say that the problem you ran into isn't the corporation, but just that particular store. At my store, we would have taken that bag over to customer service with the time, register #, and date that it was left, to aid in getting it back to you when you called. (Keep in mind that all frozen/refrigerated items would have been returned to the coolers, and logged in the book.)
But, then again, I'm so "dumb" that I actually leave my register to help the customers load everything in their carts, to make sure that they have everything. Most customers can't be bothered to check for themselves, though you'd think they would due to the fact it's their money in question. The only time I won't help a customer get their bags off the carousel is when they come up with the attitude that I'm "dumb as a shovel". At that point, I do nothing more than what I have to do, which is ring up their merchandise, bag it, take the $$, and be done with it. At that point, they can fend for themselves.
There has been lots of bad press about Walmart. But, I can say that my store happens to be filled with great people. I had a medical emergency just the other day, and the store manager had the personnel director drive me to the hospital, offer to stay with me, and then take me home to make sure I got there safely. (I did tell her she didn't need to stay, as I had someone coming to get me.) She even offered help with the bills and medicine, since I don't have insurance yet. That takes a certain class of people to make that happen.
Sorry about the venting, but I was more than a little offended to be placed under such a harsh blanket statement.
First off, I did not say that ALL employees were dumb as shovels...I said the vast majority (and this being every wal-mart i have ever been in). Secondly, I REFUSE to apologize, because I have had similiar dealings with EVERY wal-mart I have ever been in. You make it sound like I treat the associates/cashiers with "an attitude", which I do NOT. So this being said, I personally take offense to YOU trying to make me out to be the wrong person. I also worked at wal-mart as an ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER, and if you DIDN'T show proper customer service, regardless of who you were, I personally would have showed you the time clock and how to use it promptly. So don't be jumping down MY throat because I merely stated FACT. Wal-mart has went downhill since Mr. Walton passed away, and just because you have a "holier than though" store, you are one in a million. ENOUGH SAID! >:(. Oh, and by the way...it IS YOUR responsibility to make sure those bags are placed in the cart...customers tend to be busy with a lot on their mind. If you are a cashier and do not do your job thoroughly, which also includes taking care of the CUSTOMER, then why is wal-mart paying you...or better yet, why are CUSTOMERS paying you? Without people like me...you wouldn't be working there anyways. THE CUSTOMERS pay your salary!!!
I never said that you had the attitude. I just said that is the only time I won't help someone with their bags. But, I fear that I might have struck a bit of a nerve with my defense of at least my store, and our service.
Thank you for shopping at Wal-mart. Have a great day. :) O0
Edit to add: I should have waited for the edit.
And you are right, the customers pay my salary, and it's rare that I come across one that is deserving of no extra, above and beyond help from me. And it is equally as rare that I don't help someone with their bags, even if it is just to get them out of my face. Since you were an assistant manager, it seems that you would remember where you came from, what you worked with, and checked that carousel just as carefully as the cashier would/should have.
On the beating of the children note.....unfortunately, not enough beat them...lol. I thnk they bring them to Walmart just to prove to society that counting and timeouts is not an effective punishment. ;)
Well, I do commend your store, but it takes more than you to "strike a nerve" with me. So, if there's anything else I can clarify, just ask and I will reply "HOW may I help you?" :o. And as for me checking the carousel, and so many others like me, that is not my job as a customer...it is YOURS. Like I said, people have lives outside of wal-mart, and you being responsible for the merchandise that is placed on your conveyor belt, bagged by you, and money taken from the customer BY YOU...then that is in all honesty YOUR responsibility. It's called good customer service and being good at your job. The cashier that checked me out wasn't paying attention to me or what she was doing. She was too busy talking to someone about who did what with whom. And don't think she wasn't reported and I called back...she was fired because of this. People like her do not need to be anywhere near a cash register. Anyone could have just walked out with merchandise, and she wouldn't have even noticed. So good riddance to bad rubbish! ::)
Being a union member I should not say what I think about that cheap -O- store. 8)
LMAOOOOOOOOO Captain!!! ;D I think I shouldn't have even started this post, but my goodness at the honest replies!!! ;D
Princess,
I apologize for getting all defensive towards you. You sound like a truly honest person and a good associate. You are one of the few that I probably wouldn't have a problem with. And I never meant to imply that you "were dumb as a shovel", it was merely based on the associates/cashiers i have had dealings with. So my deepest apologies to you. ~Madonna~
Apology accepted. I do believe that you had every single right to go off about the girl that wasn't paying any attention. That goes beyond the defense of human error coming into the equation. I did take the offense about the "vast majority" comment, and you would have when you still worked there. You should remember that you do tend to get looked down upon by some when you mention that you work for Walmart. Not all people there have a substandard IQ, as you well know. I am there because I'm planning on moving out of state within 6 months, and I want to be able to transfer and work, while I look for something better. Can't beat the insurance...I had lesser insurance than Blue Cross/Blue Shield when I made 3x as much from a job.
I didn't want this to blow up like it did, I just wanted the other side heard from, as I believe you would have if you were still employed there.
And yes, our store does rock...lol. We are the store that people from surrounding towns (even though they have their own Wally's) will drive to for our cleanliness and service.

OUCH.
Try telling that to the tens of thousands of children who are physically abused by their parents each year.
not exactly something to "lol" about.
I CANNOT STAND Wal-mart, I've also boycotted them .....It's been over a year since I stepped foot inside one. If they don't have it at Target, I don't need it.

LOL!!! Wal-mart, The place to shop when you want cheap (as in crappy) merchandise, below standard service, you need to walk ten miles in hideous florescent lighting while listening to screaming kids and watching them run wild. >:D

I don't like Wal Mart. Is it me, or is that where everyone in America takes their kids there to beat them?
I don't know if cheap necessarily means crappy 100% of the time.
Bought a 200.00 DVD player from your electronics in box clone store and it was a piece of junk. Had it replaced (warranty) and it fried even quicker. Went to Wal-Mart, grabbed a cheap 40.00 DVD player and it's lasted me three years now.
Bought a 250.00 surround sound system from the same clone store and it was done in just under a year. Grabbed a 39.99 surround sound system and it's been golden for two years.
I think it takes a savy consumer to sort through the "Cheap parts, no name company, obvious crap" and "Cheap product, quality parts, quality company". I mean, why get burned buying something with a higher price tag because that "obviously means it's a better product"- just look at the price. I'm really picky about how I spend my money these days, so I do my homework before I buy. I take good care of my stuff, I really don't have the money not to lol. I think far too many people see the "Blue light special" and a cheap price and take it without really looking it over. Then they wonder why they bought junk after the fact. ::)
At any rate, I buy what I can afford and from close by. Gas is too expensive, my wallet is too light, and luckily my Wal-Mart doesn't sound like the black holes that some of you have dealt with. I think Meijer is more of an issue than Wal-Mart around here.
Hubby says NO shopping at walmart. He doesnt approve of them taking our jobs from the states and having your children work until they cant work no more, plus they always try to cram way to much stuff in the store so its crowded. And the staff have no training what so ever. Every walmart ive ever been in has been a very poor experience
Just out of curiosity...has anyone heard about the new documentary they made regarding how bad Wal-Mart is? I got an invite to be a seller of the movie, because i went to their website and put my 2 cents worth in....lmaoooooooo. I would like to see it, just to see why wal-mart is trying to boycott it. Anything that's anti-Wal-mart...i'm all for. I use to work for them (USE TO), and i resigned due to the way they were treating the workers. It's a long story, but let's just say overtime and working doubles for insubordinate employees was a big part of it. So all you wal-mart employees out there...may God bless you, or pity you, whichever the case may be.
I used to live in shelton and the walmart there sucks too. Nobody knows what they are supposed to be doin and I'm sure most who work their havent gotten past the 4th grade .
I'm between Huntsville Alabama and Fayetteville Tennessee. I prefer the Walmart in Tennessee. It seems a big difference. We have like 4 Walmarts in Huntsville. The employees look at you like you are asking them to walk on fire if you ask for help. Oh boy don't ask them to call another store to see if a product is in stock so that you don't have to drive another 30 minutes on top of the 45 you just drove to get to their store. They will stand there, on the phone, never speak a word, and then tell you that the store is out of that product. It's like, "HEY MORON YOU SHOULD'VE TURNED AROUND WHEN YOU MADE THE CALL SEEING THAT YOU NEVER SPOKE!" The employees are in no hurry and don't expect a smile. Be thankful that they don't break your items as they throw the bags at you! Honestly, the customers are just as bad though. They push their carts as bad as they drive. They think Walmart is a giant playground for their children. They think nothing of it when their little brats are pushing the carts into people. Man, if we had done that when we were kids we would have been in some serious trouble. We knew better than to do it.
QuoteMan, if we had done that when we were kids we would have been in some serious trouble. We knew better than to do it.
Ahahahahaha! That just made me think- to this DAY, if I bump into my mother with a shopping cart...she turns around and gives me "the look". I'm sure to keep my distance after that. I think mastery of that look comes with the birth certificates.
Just an update on my great Wal-mart that has now opened fully functional as a Super Wal-Mart....
The store is great, more open isles with no clutter than before (there really wasn't any), a lot more lighting....but I have to say that EVERY SINGLE new hire is a real jerk in there. They aren't friendly, they don't care, and their attitude just sucks. I run into the old crew in the evenings when I shop, it's nice to see and talk to them. I don't know...the store is better, but I hate even TRYING to talk to the new hires. Bleh. :-\ I just hope this isn't a view into what may be in store for us down the road. It would be a real shame for such a great store to become a real freakshow.
Yep, "the look." My aunt always babysat me and had two sons. I was an only child. We attempted to play hide and go seek in the racks at JC Penny's. HAHAHA that wasn't a good idea.
If I was as rude as a lot of the employees are my mom would kick my butt! I couldn't imagine treating a customer the way these employees do. When I started working in Chicago the deal was to always be nice to the customer. And get this, when you are nice to the customer often times they'll be nice back. I've had people come to me so mad and just by being nice and showing sincere concern I changed their whole way of thinking at/for that moment. The sad thing is that where I live we are suppose to be know for our kindness, politeness, and manners but to me it seems worse here because people are in denial that their city isn't as wonderful as they think it is.

Take shopping carts for the express purpose of filling them and stranding them at strategic locations.
Get boxes of condoms and randomly put them in carts pushed by woman.
Get boxes of tampons and put them in carts pushed by men.
Set all the alarm clocks to go off at ten minute intervals throughout the day.
Run up to an employee (preferably a male) while squeezing your legs together and practically yell at him "I need some tampons."
Try on bras over top of your clothes.
Make a trail of orange juice on the ground, leading to the restrooms.
While walking around the store, sing in your loudest voice possible, "I smell sex and candy!"
Tune all the radios to a polka station; then turn them all off and turn the volumes to "10."
Challenge other customers to duels with tubes of gift wrap.
Re-dress the mannequins as you see fit.
Test the fishing rods and see what you can "catch" from the other aisles.
Put M&M's on layaway.
Move "Caution: Wet Floor" signs to carpeted areas.
Set up a tent in the camping department; tell others you'll only invite them in if they bring pillows from Bed and Bath.
While "camping" set up camping stoves and roast marshmellows.
Contaminate the entire auto department by sampling all the spray air fresheners.
Nonchalantly "test" the brushes and combs in cosmetics.
When someone asks if you need help, begin to cry and ask, "Why won't you people just leave me alone?"
Look right into the security camera, and use it as a mirror while you pick your nose.
Take up an entire aisle in Toys by setting up a full scale battlefield with G.I. Joes vs. the X-Men.
Break out the easy bake ovens and slurpee making toys and set up your own snack cart.
Ask other customers if they have any Grey Poupon.
While handling guns in the hunting department, suddenly ask the clerk if he knows where the anti-depressants are.
Switch the men's and women's signs on the doors of the restrooms.
Dart around suspiciously while humming the theme from "Mission:Impossible."
Set up a "Valet Parking" sign in front of the store.
In the auto department, practice your "Madonna" look with various funnels.
Hide in the clothing racks and when people browse through, say things like "pick me !! pick me!!" and scare them into believing that the clothes are talking to them.
When an announcement comes over the loudspeaker, assume the fetal position and scream, "No, no! It's those voices again!"
Go to an empty checkout stand and try to check people out.
Drag a lounge chair on display over to the magazines and relax. If the store has a food court, buy a soft drink; or if they sell beer, crack open a cold one; explain that you don't get out much, and ask if they can put a little umbrella in it.
The sad thing is that my friends and I would have done most of that in high school. I had a friend who would purposely stick the security stickers on the bottom of her shoe to set the scanners off! They would go through her purse (which she made sure was filled to the max with tampons). After about 10 minutes she would lift up her foot and say "oops, I think this is the problem."

I've mentioned it somewhere on the first page of this topic but the website of the movie is www.WalMartMovie.com (http://www.walmartmovie.com) and WalMart has started a massive expensive campaign against the movie.
Wow I just checked out that website. I didn't think Walmart was doing that much damage but in the end we still pay a lot for their products. The sad thing is that a lot of companies around where I live have the same motto. Pay them as low as possible and charge 85% of that for healthcare or keep them listed as a part time employee but have them work full time hours so they don't get heathcare period.
This is how you screw walmart though...
when they put up signs saying "ALL HALLOWEEN $1"
you grab it all and tell em you want it for $1.... or its false advertising and youll sue.. heres what i walked out with last week for a buck ;)

OMFG you have got to be kidding me??!!!?? So you going to put that stuff in storage for next year? ;D
Wow, I wouldn't even have anywhere to store all that. Good for you! Take them for whatever you can get!
Walmart is about to be on 20/20. The subject is greed. How coincidental.
Enon, that is toooo funny!!!! ;D
So here's what was said......
Someone defending Walmart said that the employees took the jobs because that was the best that they could get. So it makes it sound like they aren't good enough for other jobs or that Walmart has closed down so many other businesses so that the employees don't have many other options.
I couldn't even live off of Walmart wages. That would cover gas and car expenses.
I know that's right! When i worked there, we worked long hours doing jobs that were almost inhuman for one person to do (such as stocking a TV riser 20 feet in the air, on a lift, by yourself...as a woman :o :o :o) and we had no pay to show for it. It was a sad scenario, and things have only got worse since i left there. I feel for Wal-Mart's employees, I really do. They dang near kill themselves for nothing. And here i was fussing a while back about their attitude. I forgot how it was to be employeed by such a slave driven company. :-[
I work as a department head overseeing financial aid workers that provide tanf grants, food stamps and medical and such to the poor-and we have several clients that work for wal-mart. If not for state provided medical, they and their family would be up a creek without a paddle. Every single client we have that works for wal-mart qualifies for state funded medical coupons and varying amounts of food stamps. Some still get partial cash grants, most don't. Some of the clients can get health care thru wal-mart, BUT and a very HUGE but, it would eat up a big chunk of their paycheck. When your only making 1200 (average amount I've seen for a full time worker at wal-mart) a month, a single parent with a couple kids and a rent or mortgage to pay, plus all the cots of running a household, you just can't afford it. And yes, we have several clients that wal-mart calls "part-time" and according to wal-mart, part time workers work less than 25 hours a week (if memory at moment serves me) but all our clients that are classified as "part-time" (cough cough) at wal-mart are working 30-35 hours a week.
Well folks I just had to share this Wal Mart experience with ya'll....Today I was in Wal Mart doing some grocery shopping...Me and my boyfriend come out of the store and in the next row to us is 2 Wal Mart employees and a lady were trying to get a 7 cubic ft freezer into her older model saturn....Trust me it was a KODAK moment....We started laughing and went over to offer our truck to get her freezer home.So they loaded it into the back of the truck and she turned around and low and behold her shopping cart was gone with the other items that she had purchased !!!!! We asked her what was in it and stated that we didn't see the cart when we came up....so it must have gotten taken when they started trying to get this freezer in her car....She went back in the store to notify a manager and the lady came out(don't think it was a manager...prolly an asst.) well needless to say she was informed by this person that there was nothing they could do(even tho the lady had her recite). She said in a loud voice so that others could hear..."there were 2 of your employees out there with me trying to get the freezer in my car and my shopping cart was stolen on your property....like hell there isn't something you can do!!!! I want to talk to your head manager and I want the security guy here and someone to look at those tapes of the parking lot and I want my items replaced." Well the head manager showed up and tole her"I'm really not supposed to do this ,but we will replace your items." Her items got replaced and we finally got to leave an hour and a half later. HAPPY SHOPPING EVERYONE.... ENJOY
Well to be honest, I think that the bags are partially your responsibibly, you should always check to make sure that you have all your bags before you leave, when I worked at Kroger at one point, at least 5 people left there things on my FIRST day of work and I told my manager and they said that since you didnt have a bagger, then its their fault because they could have gotten them if they needed it and they didnt have the money, because if they didnt, they would of paid closer attention to the things they paid for..
im not saying anything against you, im just making a statement about personal experiances.
Wal-Mart is entirely different than Kroger. It is in the cashiers job description to make sure that their area is clear after EVERY customer. Grant it, when it gets busy, it's hard to watch your area. And yes, it is partially the customers fault...but...it is still the cashiers responsibility to log what was left at their register. I was a former manager of Wal-Mart, and when a customer left the bag, there was never a problem retrieving it for them or letting them replace their missing items. Now, CSM's want to make a frigging pageant about it. Saying all of this, I now shop at Target to keep myself from smacking the taste out of somebody's smart mouth at Wal-Mart. I hope they get sued daily and the employees wise up and go on strike. Maybe they will change their greedy little attitudes.
Yeah, when I worked for another store like Walmart if someone left something behind we put it under the register and kept it there until the end of our shift in case they came back. If they didn't we had to take the items along with our register tray to the back to be put away. Never did it get restocked or handed to another customers. We also had to make sure that no bags were left in the bag holders before we rang up another customer. You don't want a customer to not get what they paid for nor do you want another customer to get something they didn't pay for then raise a fit because they think they were charged for something they didn't want.
I was at Walmart the other day trying to cash a money order from Illniois from my family. I saw a sign saying they cashed money orders so I was going to try to get it cashed. I waited in line for 20 minutes (they're in no rush and don't know what they're doing). I was behind two Mexicans cashing their work checks. The Mexicans start getting help finally, they were the only two customers in front of me" and the chick just glanced at their IDs. I could even tell that the picture on the IDs wasn't them and it was really odd how they had the same name. That's a common problem here is companies hiring illegals all with the same name and social security number. Cinram, a DVD packaging company, had like 20 people with the same name and ss# working for them in an 8 month period and like half of them were still working there and like 8 of them had been working there for over 8 months and they didn't notice........... Those numbers might not be exact but they are close. So this guy opens another register and starts to help me. I tell him "I have this money order" and hand it to him. He looks at it, then gets the chick to look at it, they look at it together, they contiplate it (I guess). YHe looks at me like I'm a criminal and then he tells me with an attitude "we only cash these money orders" and points to sign that didn't tell me what money orders. It's one thing to tell me "sorry we can't cash these kinds of money orders" but to stare at it for 5 minutes and then give me an attitude all the while they're cashing these illegals' checks is wrong. It really made me feel like dirt. So I told him "that's why I shop at Target" refering to his rudeness to me. Then I flipped him off and pointed at the Mexicans and said loudly, "HAVE FUN SUPPORTING THESE ILLEGALS." Its scared a lot of people in that store because it's where most of the illegals shop and cash checks. The two at the register looked like they were getting ready to run. After making my scene I walked out casually. I'm waiting for them to post my picture on the news stating that I was trying to cash a bad check. Down here they put pictures and tapes on the news of the latest wanted criminals. I got it cashed and got copies to use just in case. They didn't have to treat me like a criminal.
I'm not surprised that happened to you. I'm sorry it did, but am not surprised. Walmart will cash just about any kind of work check regardless. They are not to bright. As much as I love walmart, I hate them just as much. There have been many a time in my life where walmart was the only thing I could afford. I have a huge love/hate thing with them. Now that a target store is opening up a couple miles from where I live, walmart and target will be the same distance from me give or take a mile or so. So when target opens up, bye bye walmart.
and target doesn't have crap laying on the floor everywhere
very true about target. Whats eveyones thoughts on Kmart? Every kmart I've been in has been, well, rather dirty looking. Esp the restrooms.
Our K-mart looks trashy. It's been on the verge of being shut down for a long time. They put these big sale signs ALL OVER outside and along the roads and when you get in there it's very few selected items for that price. They jack up their jewelry prices and then mark them 70% off all year and you can go just about anywhere and still get the jewelry cheaper. I hate our Kmart and have shopped there maybe 5 times in the 4 years I've lived here but have gone in when I saw their bogus sale signs a couple times until I learned not to fall for their joke again. When I lived in Illinois our Kmart was much better but that was before they started shutting stores down.
I stopped shopping at kmart a long time ago because they all looked so trashy inside and outside. The one by where I live, I went 2 years without going in. Then this morning I went in just to see if anythings changed, and nope. Its still dirty and trashy looking and everything seemed overpriced to me.
They are definately over priced because they have Martha Stewarts name on half the junk.
martha stewart-yuck she can stuff it where the sun don't shine. I refuse to buy any of her junk. Its stuff I can get/find anywhere else less than what kmart is asking.
Target has some guy's name on a bunch of their stuff. That makes the price of the dustpan to be like $10.
At least with Target...you can walk down the aisles without tripping on some crap that's been thrown on the floor. At Wal-Mart, their employees will let you trip over junk and just look at you, like it's your fault. And don't even get me started with the pallets, buggies, and "section rope off's due to waxing" scenarios that I have encountered. I had to go in one night and get some medicine...i was so sick i could barely walk. The aisles between the shampoo and the garden center was roped off. They had the audacity to tell me i couldn't go get some frigging flu medicine. Me, in my polite Christian voice, said "like hell I can't! "F" you and your dam rope." Needless to say I got my medicine and complained to the managers...totaling 2 CSM's and an Assistant...making sure to snot and cough on them frequently. This was when the "illegal aliens" were the moppers and waxers. They no longer work there, and I think I caused a flu epidemic in wal-mart that year >:D. Screw them.
tell me about it. This time last year I had a nasty case of strep throat and an ear infection. After getting my drugs from the dr's office, hubby and I wondered into walmart to pick up tissues, 7up and jello. Of course in the food isle where the jello was they had all sorts of crap sprawled out and hubby had to climb over pallets and the shopping carts the employees were using just for the 7up and jello. As for the tissues, they had that isles blocked off due to waxing the floors or some crap..at this point I was tired, sick and rather cranky and in no mood for games. They told me I had to wait until they were done with the asile before getting tissues and the clerk just wondered off. I went under the rope walked not even a foot, grabed a box of tissues and left. But I was glared at by some of the empolyees. Good lord, can't they wax the floors at 3 in the morning?
They don't realize that customers also need items from where theyare waxing. I think they should rope off a small section, like 1 aisle at a time. And if they won't let us get to something we need, get them to hand it to us, especially if it's a necessity like meds or soft drinks, juice, crackers...etc. Telling a customer they can't get merchandise is just poor ethics, imho. We, the consumer, pay their salary, do we not? No matter how crappy they think their job is, without us they wouldn't have a job there. So next time I need merchandise...I don't care if they are having revival in the middle of the aisle...I'm butting in and getting my chit. The Lord will understand that momma needs kleenex and meds ;D.
holy cow they rope off the isle that they wax in ya'lls wal-marts?!? Here they just drive those big waxers around and ya gotta watch to make sure they don't run ya over....no roping off the isles here....

When our walmart became a superwalmart, they started driving around the big waxers. Now we play a game called duck and run while the employees play hit and run.
Yeah, they rope off whole sections of the store...like 1/4 at a time. If you need something in that particular section, it's like pulling hen's teeth trying to get your stuff. And as for running me over with the big waxer...i wish they would. I could use the settlement money, and trust me, I'd sue for millions.
