We have the Walmart post so now here's the "I hate McDonald's" post.
I don't like McDonald's and rarely eat there unless we're out and about and well McDonald's is the most common fast food restaurant around.
I'm driving home from town this morning and my friend calls me and asked me to bring him a biscuit at work. I'm already way past town and the only place left was McDonald's. I also had a free coupon so I didn't care. I usually refuse to step foot in that McDonald's because their employees are illiterate. They got my order correct and I go out the main door to go across the parking lot and WHAM slipped and fell, one leg forward and one leg half back, fell on my knee. I was wearing regular treaded gym shoes that don't normally slip on outdoor surfaces. It had been raining out all morning. Well guess what?!?!? Some common sense reject thought how nice it would be to put the same tiles that they have indoors outside too. The same tiles that they are required to put "slippery when wet" signs up inside.
To make it all worse there was a male employee within 5 feet of me changing the garbage and did he even bother to ask me if I was ok or even show any kind of concern? OF COURSE NOT!!!! I know he heard me swearing as I went down.
OH YEAH and this main exit is also the handicap accessible entrance too. If my 23 year old butt fell imagine granny going down it.
If anyone knows what type of state department or county department I would contact to complain about this please let me know. I've already sent in a complaint to McDonald's Corporate office and I want the county to check the safety of these tiles too.
I don't like McDonalds because Wendy's is the BOMB!!! ??? :P
hmmmmm i've called the health department in my county before but that's only because they're so freakin gross and you can just see the nastiness as they are making the food. I don't eat there anymore! I have to agree with Homer.....Wendy's rocks...am totally hooked on the new frosty's with butterfinger in them lol. Next time, tell your co-worker to eat breakfast at home lol
You haven't had a burger until you sink your tetth into that precious Triple Classic Cheeseburger! (https://www.pogocheats.net/proxy/?http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5elf/burger.gif)
:o ??? I don't like Wendys, McDonalds, or Burger King. I personally have worked at a McDonalds durning my high school years and the one I worked at wasn't that bad. I did get cussed out by some woman who was upset because our store wasn't taking part in some special. I usually eat at Subway or Mancinos and ocassionaly Taco bell. Sorry to here you busted your butt!
personally I like Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich there the bomb. I don't eat McDonald's there food sucks I much rather cook at home than eat there

I thought they made Root Beer. :P
Oh, I forgot to mention...LOL I LOVE Jack in the box food. Spicy Chicken sandwich and jumbo jacks are my favorites. From Wendys, I love their taco salad. I can't stand burger king, I have gotten to many cold burgers from them over the years so I don't go to burger king anywhere anymore. Theres one KFC I will NEVER go to thats near my house anymore, last 3 times I ate there I got food posioning....UCK. Mcdonalds, I have mixed feelings about. On one hand, I did work at Mcdonalds for 8 years..3 years in high school and for the 5 years I was in college. I worked for them until I got my Masters degree. They DID help pay off student loands and kept me fed and paid for textbooks and stuff....but on the other hand all their food tastes the same to me anymore. I'll stop by for a big mac and a shake...but after the crap my coworkers and I pulled at Mcdonalds, I can't help but wonder. LOL

Well, maybe Pinks Hot Dog in LA but that's only because I haven't tried a Chi-Town hot dog. Pinks, however, total rock and if you make a trip to LA... it's worth the long wait in line!
I was born and raised in Chicago and I moved here to the U.P. of Michigan about 2 years ago and It was the worst mistake of my life. I have heard of Pinks saw it on Food Network The people who own it are from Chicago and they get vienna beef flown there. If it's Vienna Beef it's a true Chicago Dog!
i like wendys shes always open O0
Ewwww Chicago dogs. Who wants a salad on a hot dog. :P
Now a chili cheese dog is much better. ;)
mhhh the hot dogs at A&W.........they're foot long, with chilli, cheese, and extra onions!

at the state fair this year they sold double dunked deep fried twinkies and donuts...
:o ??? ??? ??? Hmmm...... deep fried twinkie sounds like burning ants with a magnifying glass to me.
Haven't tried that. I seen them do it with a Snickers bar and boy did it look good. ???
The only fried dessert I have seen is fried ice cream and it wasn't too bad. O0
deep fried anything tastes good to homer....LOL the snickers aren't that bad, very, well, gooey....lol

JEAN and JUDES?????????????????? River Grove, Il, famous all around Chicago. I miss that :(
I will not eat any other kind of hotdog besides VIENNA! I haven't had real food since I've been back home to Chicago. Everything is seasoned with grease here in Alabama.
We have a local Mexican restaurant that I love. OH YEAH and even they don't put slippery when wet tile outside their entrance!
Wendys all the way ... Fries dipped in a frosty! Nothin beats it
you do that to? YYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMYYYYYY

just had wendys for dinner triple cheeseburger , biggy fries , large coke mmmmmmm
did you get some for me? yummy
they shut down the wendy's by my house about 5 years ago, now it's another citgo :(
Yeah one of those :-[ We used to get a big box of Vienna Hotdogs to split up with all the transplants down here but we could never cook them as good.
I'm waiting to see how long it takes someone from McDonald's to call me back. I'm still trying to figure out who to call about that because that isn't right to have those tiles outside. My upper leg muscle is killing me and my knee feels like it needs to pop but it hurts to much to try to pop it.

Silvercraze did you go inside and let them know you fell?? I would of just so they cant say you were making it up.. You should go get the leg checked out, just incase anything is wrong you will have it on record with doctors that you had an injury, and how it happened. Just to protect yourself.
I was just getting ready to ask if you went to ER or doc or something. I agree with her. You really should have it checked out hun just to make sure nothing is wrong.
I had a friend with me and took names of the witnesses in the parking lot. I don't have insurance or the money to pay a doctor $80 plus $50 for xrays and $$ for prescription. I should go apply at Walmart. Maybe they can help me file for government aid and healthcare when they hire me.
I'm mostly mad because the employee standing within 5 feet up me didn't say a word to me and I'm mad at the idiot who had the idea to use those tiles.
I know huh who would use indoor tiles outside!! LOL thats crazy. Dont you have a public hospital you could go to? cause you can apply there for free health care. I dont know about where u are but here in mass you go to hospital wait for bill then on back they have a spot where u can apply for free health care if you cant afford the bill. Also when you do get the bill submit it to Mcdonalds if they refuse (which would be dumb on there part) hire a lawyer im sure you could find one easily. A public hospital CANNOT turn you down for care if you have no health insurance.
The only option you get at the hospital is to already be on a government aid program or be an illegal immigrant. The ER does offer a payment plan for the $350 they charge before X-rays. Doctors' fees are due when the bill is due. I know all this because I was in the ER seeing a specific doctor who left the building and was still charged for it. No doctors here will provide any service without the money up front and there is a free clinic but because I was injured at an establishment they will not accept me. When it comes to other programs "we make too much" but they don't factor in our bills and mortgage but at least my POGO was a "sorry I forgot your birthday" present from my dad!

I agreee with ya up here they have never heard of vienna beef. . .. If I drive 45 minutes to Ashland, Wisconsin I can get a dog and fries for $3.50. I was like $3.50?????? are u nuts? They where like it gets shipped up here just for them so we are basically paying for the shipping but man is it worth it LOL
And there is no mexican restaurants here so I haven't had a good torta or burrito in almost 3 years :'(
Isnt that aweful you make to much for this you make too much for that unless your an illegal immigrant .. dont even get me started on that subject LOL. well call a lawyer and see what they say on what to do cause if there is something wrong with you you will not get anything if you dont go to a doctor and get your injuries on record, let me know how you make out wish there was some way i could help you.
I grew up in Franklin Park just next door to River Grove. I haven't been back in a couple years :'( Found some old friends on myspace and they want me to come visit but my southern man isn't all excited about going like I am.
About the illegals, don't get me started in that subject either. It's already bad enough that wages aren't too good here and on top of that you have to compete with the illegals. A local flag company, that makes AMERICAN FLAGS, hires a bunch of "immigrants" but I am more than sure that most of them are illegal.
My legs are sore as all can be today. The front muscle on my upper right leg is super sore and the back muscle on my upper left leg is sore. My knee doesn't hurt as bad today so I'm sure I'm ok. I just really mostly want a DARN apology for their idiotic employee not doing anything and I want the moron that decided to use those tiles fired!!!! I'm still trying to find out who to contact locally about that.
Sorry, I didn't read all four pages so don't know if it is in here or not. I would give OSHA a call and see what they have to say. Remember them. They are why there are warning's posted all over every ladder you buy. Go for it girl. Be sure and take your 23 year old butt to the doctor and get it checked. Doctor will be a lot cheaper than a hospital and you need to get it documented. Those aches and pains can start several days later. O0
Lol, I'll keep my mouth shut on the "illegal immigrants" seeing that I see the jobs that they "steal" and have even worked them myself. You want to really point the finger? Point it at the government who gives "legal" immigrants Social Security and Welfare (originally intended as transitional income between losing a job and finding new employment, not a constant income) when they step foot in our country even though they have not worked a day into the benefits they are given. Or perhaps the everyday US citizens who abuse the system in place for those who truly need help. :-X
As for your slip and fall at McDonalds- unless you went straight in and complained, went straight to the hospital and had it checked out, and then went back to McDonalds with the hospital bill....doing things a few days after the fact doesn't look great for yourself if you were to hire a lawyer and try to go after them for monetary damages and or pain and suffering. However, you can file a grievance/complaint with the "home" office for McDonalds in your state about the safety issue present at the establishment you stopped in at as well as the employee(s) who made no effort to assist you.
It can be tricky trying to get something like that taken care of, especially when they are liable for your injuries and possibly your medical bills if you desire to pursue that route. When people delay in their complaint, treatment, and follow up...individuals are less inclined to take it seriously. Call a lawyer and get an opinion...it never hurts to ask.
These days, unless your arm falls off and you become maimed beyond recongition, you have a hard time getting people to owe up to their responsibilities.
I really hope you are feeling better after your mishap. As stated, a hospital cannot deny you medical treatment in the case of an true emergency based on your financial situation and or lack of insurance. In the case of your legs, as it doesn't sound as if it is an emergency by coding definitions (not to take anything away from your pain), I would get it checked out at a clinic.
Check with your local Family Independence Agency if you haven't already. Talk to them about your financial situation and the possibility of Medigap or Medicaid Insurance. There are loophools in the system, but finding an individual who will go that extra mile to really help you out is hard. With my mother having been layed off from General Motors, then getting into a car accident that left her paralyzed and in a wheelchair, my diagnosis of cancer that same year, and a 60% loss of income....we couldn't get ANY help because my mother's income was still too high. Social Security Disability was hard to obtain, but we can thank those who abuse the system to their benefit when DISABLED individuals cannot get help or have one h*** of a time getting it. My mother worked for the State of Michigan for 7 years, and General Motors for 24 years...but people who haven't worked a day in their life with a sore back get it instantly. Three years we fought the system, almost lost our house of several occasions, and barely had money for medical necessities...it really is an injustice. I feel your pain. :(
I hate McDonalds in the states refuse to eat there. Here in Italy only fast food is McDonalds and they are GREAT!!! None of the food is precooked. WHen you order they drop just a order of fries and cook your sandwich or whatever u order. You get everything HOT and ummm good only downfall the Italians hate Ice in there drinks you get everything ROOm temp. Everytime we go to the states for a visit when we get off the plane we start hunting the nearst TacoBell and Wendys OMG I miss there chicken sandwich :'(
McDonald's is gross, I haven't eaten that in years. About the only fast food place I like these days is Subway and of course I love a good pizza now and again O0 I always found with McDonald's that unless the food was freshly cooked while I waited (which was hardly never) it went cold too quick, the fries would near enough be stone cold within 2 mins of receiving them. It was worse if I was picking up the stuff on the way home because by the time I'd get home everything would be cold and I'd have to nuke it all in the microwave ::)
Also is it true that McDonald's thickshakes and ice-cream are made out of pig fat??
Ewwwwwwww PIG FAT?
I use to LOVE Subway but thats the only place here on the 2 bases we have and after awhile you get very tired of it and the Italians that own and run it has RUINED the AMerican Sub LOL
no mcdonalds shakes is not made out of pig fat i used to be a closing manager at a mcdonalds in southern california before moving out east
how come no-one has even mentioned Hardee's??? Their angus burgers are the best!! It's good that you get what you pay for, because they are a lil expensive, but they are worth it!
ummm goood Hardee's has a real good breakfeast! ANd what about ARby's they have a WONDERFUL roastbeef sandwich and Back Yard Burgers has the best blackened chicken sandwich.Oh man cant wait to get back to the states in 4 months
well hardees & carls jr same company carls jr is west of texas while hardees is east of texas hardees has good food i also like arbys but ill stick with wendys & taco bell O0 but for best shakes its d.q :)
I'm doing a lot better today so there really isn't anything seriously wrong with me. I'm just irritated at their stupidity. I filed a complaiint with McDonald's (still waiting to be contacted and if not today I'm calling their corporate location) that day but I didn't know to go back into the location I fell at immediately after so I messed up with that. Heck, the one employee didn't do anything so how was I suppose to feel going in. I was still recovering from my dignity being bruised.
I think at this point I just really want a freakin apology.
About the governement healthcare I cannot recieve it and for assisted coverage I don't make enough money to claim taxes (which if I really did all the paperwork I could get a lot of money from the government for my work but I don't want their money) to show them my W-2. I found that pretty stupid because I (we) make too much for their other program but the program that I pay a percentage of wont take me because I can't show them the paperwork they want to see. They also claim my fiance makes too much and they use him because I live with him and he is considered my provider. They like his final number but don't include taxes, mortgage, utilities, his insurance health and dental (which is cheap for him but half his paycheck for me if we were married), car payment, car insurance, and gas. I don't want anything from the government but would like affordable heathcare seeing that a majority of these companies do not offer insurance, do not offer affordable insurace, or keep their employees listed at part time so they don't insurance. When I lived in Illinois I had great insurance for like $12 a month, had a great job, and great wages. I moved here and it's like Walmart is the business idol and these companies follow their lead with wages and insurance. Oh and let me add that since I was 15 I've been paying taxes until I moved here and I didn't make enough to pay taxes so I got all my taxes back.
You are right- They don't take into consideration your personal debts and financial responsibilities. They aren't liable to do so. What they look at is your personal income and any alternate source of income in your home- be it a spouse, dependent, etc. It's just incredibly frustrating trying to get the help you work for and pay into just to have a million and one petty reasons as to why you can't get the benefits you apply for.
My mother also has a work related injury and recieves Workers Compensation through General Motors. She was injured back in '94 and that date determines the amount she recieves based on her income at that time. It does not change at all- cost of living increases, dependent status, seniority/years of service make no difference over time. When she was layed off in 2001 prior to her car accident, she would have cleared over 100k after taxes. When she was working in '94 she cleared a little over 30k. After the layoff the only source of income while waiting to be called back was her Work Comp- over a 50% pay cut. Then the accident left her unable to work, and that was the only source of income for three years. A mortgage, car payment, 60k in debt left to her after a divorce, and over 150k in medical bills excluding medical necessities- nearly four years later and we are still stuggling.
What's worse is those who have injuries dating back to the 80's or 70's. Consider what their yearly income was back then and the the cost of living today, it is not enough to make due.
General Motors and the UAW have ratified the new health care initiative. Before, the retirees contract when they retired was nearly set in stone...this will now cost them 750.00 a year for their medical. Individuals on a limited income who couldn't vote on this, who's contract was not supposed to be changed in such a way, and now have to find 750.00 a year extra. I know we can't do it, and I know my grandfather can't do it either. The currently employees took a much lighter blow which does not make any sense.
Health care rises and those of us with good insurance pay more to foot the bill for the uninsured- those who make no effort to pay back their debt. Those that need the help and can't get it are labeled unfairly and handed nothing but red tape. Those who have abused the system have ruined things for those who truly need it.
*End rant* ::) :P
I really hope things turn up for you, it's so frustrating these days. I'm not sure why they are falling back on the fact that you don't make enough money to claim taxes- it's not your fault. I don't know who you have for car insurance, but check with them as they often offer health insurance at a resonable price.
*Hugs* Just keep plugging away at any and all leads to improving your situation...no matter how much you want to slap the person handling your paperwork. :o
And speaking of Hardee's...ours used to serve Mooney's icecream (so good)...and now the shakes taste like frozen milk and wax. >:(
Anyone grab a Halo Burger from time to time?
Taco Bell and McDonald's tastes better in Canada than it does here in the states. I miss the Taco Bell fries.
If it's one thing I miss it's Arby's (https://img493.imageshack.us/img493/8083/arbys0kd.jpg)
So McDonald's hadn't contacted me for 2 and half weeks so I finally sent another e-mail in telling them the things I knew about McDonalds and especially about that McDonald's work practices with minors. They go over the limit of hours they can workl. My 17 year old cousin went in there for breakfast with my grandma and family just before my grandma was to go in for brain surgery. The manager comes up to him and tells him he has to be back for work in 2 hours. They had changed the schedule that day or the night before without telling him. He told her he was out with his grandma before her surgery. She told him he better come in or he's fired. He didn't want to raise a fuss there because of my grandma's mental and emotional condition as it was. He quit because there was not way in HECK was he going to miss what could be the last time he got to spend with her and it did turn out to be the last time and he'll never regret quiting so they can screw themselves. I also mentioned that the employee who was standing there was black and that could be another reason why they haven't done anything. This is a country town and there aren't many black people around so they're probably scared to do anything. I also brought up another McDonald's that I went into and tried to use coupons that I had won from their Monopoly game and she wouldn't let me use them and when a black customer went to use his she let him use them. To me no one should get special treatment, better service, or bad service because of their race but it still happens and just more races are involved on both sides. I think being scared to do or not do something because of someone's race makes it worse.
Anyways, I get a call today from some guy at the local McDonalds. He said he needed my information to give to their insurance company in case I need to go see a doctor. I was thinking, "HELLO it's been THREEE WEEKS now." I didn't say anything because I want to leave everything open. I didn't want him to having anything to add to the insurance company. I gave him my information and he said the insurance company will be calling me. Then he tells me he was sorry about the length of time but he did call and left a message for me with a young lady. I told him that I'm the only lady in this house period. Too bad I couldn't make him explain how he must have dialed the wrong number and oddly enough someone with my name lived there too and so he left a message for her. Then he was trying to end the conversation and I asked about them employee that was right there and he said he didn't get that part of the message sent to him. Who knows? He asked me to describe him and I did and he said that if that's who he thinks it is that person is no longer with them. They could've gotten the message and fired him for it and then hoped it would blow over. Who knows because it's just so odd that he dialed the wrong number, didn't get all the of the email I sent, and the employee is no longer there. Are they just stupid or liars?
So now here's the thing. I don't know what to do. I don't know if they were going to see if I want to go to a doctor or try and get me to shut up. My knee has been stiff on and off and my ankle has been acting up (which I didn't think I hurt it but it starts hurting out of the blue). Also, I've had more back pain than usual but I can't say for sure because I had a week of it hurting anyways. If anyone knows what I should do please let me know.
Sorry to hear what happened to you.Personally I would take pictures of the walkway where you fell.On a rainy day and dry days.See if they put out a wet floor sign, but I would go see your doctor.Hope you feel better.
Their interior tiles have texture and have to have a wet floor sign. I want to go see a doctor to make sure everything is ok but I don't want to seem like a fool to go in there 3 or more weeks later and nothing be wrong with me. I don't know how to go about it if and when their insurance company calls me.
I'm no lawyer but I would think the longer you wait to see a doctor the harder it will be for you to prove any injuries etc.
I would suggest seeking legal counsel for advice.
Yeah but I couldn't really afford to see a doctor and have the x-rays and all that and they require the money then and there. I know when I went to the free clinic here for my hand they said I needed to get an x-ray and that alone was $75 up front. The free clinic wouldn't see this case because I was injured at an establishment. I do not qualify for the medical clinic that charges based on wages. I also didn't think they would wait this long to contact me. I figured they would be concerned about a lawsuit.
I happy (but peeved) with McDonald's right now..all I ordered was a chocolate shake and a big mac this morning. They gave me a large chocolate shake (I ordered a small) and and about 20 bucks worth of burgers. I tried to tell the gal all I ordered was a big mac and the cashier said no you didn't now take your food and get out of my window. So I took the food, parked to see exactly what they gave me. Sure enough, 20 bucks worth of assorted burgers. I guess I got the wrong order because the car behind me sat at the window with the same cashier I just dealt with for what seemed like the longest time and looked like the guy was auguring with her. So I guess I got the wrong order but she was rude to me and told me to take it anyway, so no complaints here on my end.
Yeah you got more than you ordered and more than you paid but I'm sure if you would have been that car behind you that really ordered it you would have been fuming. That was really rude of her but right now I wouldn't expect much from any McDonalds period. This McDonald's will give you completely different items than you ordered and it's not really someone else's order.

They won't be concerned with a lawsuit because the longer you wait the harder it will be for you to prove your case. Waiting actually works in their favor. The first thing their lawyer will say is why didn't you seek medical treatment immediately. I understand your situation and hope this doesn't sound like I'm trying to criticize you. I'm just trying to pass along a little friendly advice. O0
if I was the person behind me, yes I would have been fuming to. But I've never cared much for McDonald's. And not to be rude or racist here, but the McDonald's in my town, and a bunch of others have hired a whole bunch of Mexicans that have no English skills what so ever. In my thoughts, if your working in fast food, I would not hire anyone that could not speak fluent English. I really don't care what other languages you speak, and you can speak what ever language makes you happy, but I feel you should have a good understanding of English to work anywhere here in the US. It frustrates me so much trying to place or order or purchase anything in a store when the cashier barely understands English.
Yeah I completely understand that Homer. But my wages and insurance (don't have any) is just as good as what they offer their employees. I guess I will just have to wait and see what the insurance company says when or I really mean IF they call.
Well I wish you luck. O0
Hey Silvr....
I am really lazy today and didn't feel like reading the entire thread to find out if this had been suggested....
If a hospital is entirely county or state funded, they have to treat you whether you have insurance or not. I don't know where you live, but you might have to drive to a "city" to find that hospital. For example, in Pittsburgh, 98% of the hospitals are funded by the University of Pittsburgh and can refuse anyone...but Allegheny General Hospital is State/County funded and must treat anyone who seeks treatment regardless of income, insurance, race, sex, whatever. You may have to wait in the waiting room for a few hours, but at least you will get to be seen by a doctor.
Good Luck...and also, I agree with Homer; Find an attorney. Those ambulance-chasing-slip-and-fall guys are everywhere and should at least give you a free consult.
I had some french fries and dumped them out and found a fly in them. >:(this is not a joke!
Emergency rooms aren't suppose to deny anyone but that's only if it's a real emergency. The hospitals we have I don't believe are county hospitals. I know the one isn't and I'm sure the other one really isn't because it's just the same. If I would have gone to the ER and McDonald's refused to pay it I would have had at least an $800 bill from them. It totals to almost $400 to see a doc for 5 minutes and no x-rays and then at least $80 for medicine at the pharmacy. Oh yeah and they don't work with you if you're not on goverment aid or if you're NOT illegal.
I really did believe they would have contacted me sooner than they did so things could have been worked out. Even if I am stuck I will just raise a lot of HECK and I do it well.
a long time ago I went to a county hospital after falling at home and they still saw me. They sent me a bill and I contacted the billing department, told them I was to poor to pay the whole thing. They then sent me some forms to fill out and had to send in copys of pay stubs along with the forms. The bill came to like 900 bucks or something for some xrays, a 3 hour wait and 10 minutes with a doc. Turned out all I sprained was my knee. After sending in the forms, the hospital wrote off the whole bill.
