Title: Pogo Mobile Questions
Post by: CleoinOK on December 20, 2005, 04:26:14 PM
Hi!  I'm new here and my husband is a club pogo addict.  In fact, the availability of the mobile badges has persuaded him that a cell phone wouldn't be that bad after all.
I bought him a Cingular phone for Christmas and had it set up as a go phone...it is an LG 1300.  Does anyone know of any problems with this model?
As far as the token uploads, does anyone know about how many Kb they are?
   Thank you!!

Cleo

You'll need to check with your carrier to see if any pogo games are available on your phone. The games are not available on all phones.

Two of the games are available for this phone, but I had heard that there may be a problem with uploading tokens, and was wondering if anyone else had this phone and had any problems.  We can take it back and get a different one if we need to so that he can get his pogo fix.

There is a list of unacceptable phones in the faq section at pogo I believe.  If your phone doesn't upload tokens or rank progress then you won't be happy.

I am not finding the faq very helpful.  It says that the phone I bought works with the games in one place, and in another says that there may be problems uploading the tokens.  I'm not sure which one to believe, so I guess we'll just try it out and see.  Thank you for the reply!

My friend has the LG 1300 and boy does it suck when it comes to Pogo games.  I had the Motorola V220 and it worked well for Poppit and Turbo. Never did try Tri Peaks.  Now I have a Motorola V551 and it doesn't seem to have any of the game available.

Where is this list that you guys are speaking of?  I can't seem to find it.  I think I am looking in the wrong place.

Go to the help section, then in the advanced section, put in the boxes:

Mobile
Pogo Mobile
All Subs

Then search for "phone"

Answer #2 is for Cingular, and answer #3 is for Verizon

Hope this helps!

Cingular sucks  >:(  A bunch of their LG, Samsung {which I have} and a few others apparently "don't have the ability to upload tokens" according to EA {I finally got this answer after about 3 weeks of email tag with them}.  I am NOT happy, because the Cingular website STILL does not inform you of this.

You won't have a problem getting a refund for the games you can't play.  LOL.  I'm so happy my phone works.

I wouldn't worry about the tokens. If you need tokens that badly you can let YUIOP run and you'll get more than you can handle. The mobile games are more about the badges than the tokens.

I find it interesting how pogo and your cell phone company constantly blame each other for games not being available. I ask my cell phone company why I can't get poopit on my phone and they tell me to contact pogo. You ask pogo and they tell you to contact your carrier. LOL Hopefully things will be ironed out soon so we all can enjoy the services offered.

Whatever you do don't go to a Cingular store and ask about pogo mobile. They'll stare at you like your wearing that tree on your head and say.....Pogo what? :o

Yeah, I figured that would be what would happen so that's why I thought I would just ask here, where people know what they are talking about.  ;)

ty, bigbyrd, is that the only phone you know of that plays all 3? I know the nokia 3100/3120 does as well, but I couldn't find anyone that carried that phone here and I thought it was a basic model.

I thought maybe if I went carrying a list of phones that can get them, I might have better luck at least finding one of them.

I have cingular but i have the Motorola V3. I cant upload tokens either...but according to pogo its due to a glitch on their end that they are woing on and were hoping to have fixed this week.  I'm not sure if that applies to yur phone as well or not.  But it might who knows :o(

I did that, and half of the phones on the list are old ones.  I ended up taking the LG phone back and got the Nokia 3120.  It's not a very cool phone, but since he only wants it for the games, and that one gets all three, it doesn't matter all that much.
Thanks for all the information.  The people in the stores had no idea about the Pogo games, nor did the phone reps.

I received an updated e-mail from EA (pogoBret) and he informed me that they did some switching around of servers and that i should try to login now.  Wooohoooo I was able to login and update my tokens and I've already won the first poppit badge.  So far poppit is the only game available for the Motorola V3 but from what i gather the other games arent going to be too far away.  Hope this helps  O0

lol, ok, I got the Motorola v180 and I am now starting to play t-21.  What do I need to do to get a badge? So far, the +5 is as high as I have gotten.  Do I need to get a spin and if so, how many? And what do I do to get the badge onto my account?

I am sorry I am so cell phone game dumb.  Thanks in advance.  ;) :-*

It's been a few months since I finished my T21 badges but if memory serves me right you advance by getting JP spins. Your progress is uploaded to pogo's server every time you get a JP spin. I think I got the first badge after getting my first spin. It gets progressively tougher though. :(

I can totally relate to the long nail part.  I don't know if my nails are too long or the buttons are too small.  I finished Poppit, but Turbo was so annoying that I quit.  :(

I am doing mine and it seems to be based on the number of 21's- even if I don't get a JP spin, I still get badges.  I think I got the first two badges with only 1 jp spin.

The problem I have with the mobile games is the cards are so small they are hard for me to read. Even with my glasses. I have terrible eyesight. Wait until you try Tri-Peaks. Ugh.....I'm still working on Badge #4. You only move 1% for every JP spin. :o

Hmmmm...Mine did not work like that.  I got like 100 21's in total, but no spins.  I didn't seem to move up in rank any.  Maybe you have to eventually get a spin to make them count?  I don't know.  I refuse to try again though.  I hate that game to begin with, and as far as Tri Peaks goes...Just like I don't have the rank badges for the regular game, I won't have the mobile ones either.   LOL

Thanks everyone for your support, I appreciate it.  It is good to know I am not the only one going blind here and thinking about cutting my nails off, lol.

I am logged in and everything, do I need to do anything special after I get the spin or whatever to get the badge?

I actually did throw my phone.  LOL But to the floor not the wall.  Just a suggestion...Don't do it.  Breathe.  ;)  I got a new phone that I thought was better, only to find out it won't get any of the games.  >:(  Man do I miss that, "Cannot connect to server message."

On TP you have to win 6 games to get your JP spin and when your phone tries to connect to pogos servers sometimes you lose the call and your progress. I've since learned that after winning the 5th game to close the application so it saves my progress. That way when I win the sixth game and my call gets dropped I don't have to start back at the beginning again because it saved my progress after the fifth game. Hope that makes sense. ;)

Sorry to hear that but the response you received is the same one I received from Verizon. They were like "Pogo what?" I've received the same response in person and via customer service on the phone. I sent Verizon an email to complain about the application not being available on my phone and they gave me a bunch of techie BS and pushed me in pogo's direction. I understand theses games are still relatively new etc but for companies who have resources like EA and Verizon/Cingular etc to be so disorganized is an embarassment in my opinion. If you can't make all the games available on a specific model you shouldn't make any of the pogo games available on that model. I know this sounds like sour grapes because I can't get poopit but that's exactly what it is. LOL

I have gotten 2 spins now and it always says connecting after I get a spin, but my tokens at pogo are not going up at all and I looked very closely after this spin and it did not give me a percentage.  It just says connecting for a few seconds and then it loads more cards up for me.  Is there a way to see my rank on it? I am worried I am doing this for nothing.  :(

I signed in when I first brought the game up and it said it would save my name and pw.  It is giving me my token amount on my phone screen after each game but my tokens are not moving any at all on the actual pogo site after my spin when it connects.  Ohhh I may pull my hair out and throw my phone soon, won't that be a sight? lol  :D

Any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Sorry. I don't know what the problem could be although I seem to remember someone posting yesterday something similar about some phones not working right. I wouldn't worry so much about the tokens. You really don't win a lot on the mobile games. I'd be more concerned with it properly recording your game progress. ;)

Yup, there is a problem with the uploading of tokens on certain phones.  The list is in Pogo Help.  Take a look there, and that may answer your question.

Others are also saying that one spin should have progressed me to Rank 1 and the 3 spins I have had should have taken me to Rank 2, but I have no badge at all.  I have to be doing something wrong but I can't figure out what.  I went to the help section and my phone is not on the list of the ones having token problems.  :(

That's what I thought. One spin should have gotten you to your next rank in the beginning. Wish I had an answer for you.

I wish you did too, Homer.  Maybe Big Byrd will show up and take me under her wing, lol.  She posted she has the same phone that I have.  :)

I am still trying to brave out turbo 21  :D

Turbo 21 will not show your progress, the badges magicly appear.  You should have one after one game, the second one, after three games, and so forth and so on.  The first three badges were easy coming.  The last two was slow for me, but if you are good at the game, some ppl get them in a few hours.

There is no way I am aware of to check your stats. Maybe turning your phone off and restarting it might help you connect to the pogo servers. :-\

Oh yeah....make sure you are signed in to your account via the phone. ;)

For Turbo 21, there is some screwup with that saving thing . . . mine always had somebody's else name and password that I didn't know.  Always sign in with Turbo21 and Poppit.  Tripeaks isn't as bad, but I do lose one hand cause it doesn't connect, so I usually sign out and back in on that one too, when I pick it back up.  I hope this makes sense.

I am sorry.  Now I can't get any games and of course Cingular knows nothing about them becoming available.  They don't even know what they are of course.  I had a $100 phone and upgraded to a $200 phone and no games.  :'(

If you call Cingular about games . . . there is a games department and technical support separate from the regular technical support.  So when you get to customer service, say something like I have a game I need support and they will direct you to the right place.  Usually takes three transfers.  LOL.  I have done this several times, and if they don't know how to help me, they at least act like they can.  LOL.

How long did it take the badges to appear? I played for 2 hours and still do not have a badge.

I signed in when I first brought the game up and it confirmed it and now when I pull the game up, I don't see an option to sign in again.  ??? It just has the cards ready to play.  :(

Now it is adding my tokens to my account when it connects but I still do not have a single badge and according to my phone stats I have played 94 games, made 798 21's, and have a best game of 13-21's.  :'( We really need a tearing hair smilie here, lol.  :D

go to options in Turbo 21 game, sign out if you are signed in, sign in again, play one game get jp spin, then check your badge album at pogo.  If you don't then something is screwed with the game.  I believe that on all the games, I downloaded a new version after a few days with struggling with them.  If you have saved your browser message on you phone, go to the message and download your game after you deleted it, and you will not be charged.  I remember I had a problem with it at first, cause I decided to play signed in to my daughter's account, and I gave her my three badges, lol.

It took me awhile, cause I'm not very good at turbo.  But when I first started I couldn't get any jp spins, but now I get quite a few.

I got a new cell phone for Christmas and on it I had the Turbo 21 and Poppit games.  Do I have to buy them new for my new phone or is there a way to transfer it over?

Someone told me you could transfer them over, but when I went to the store and asked about it they looked at me like I was whacky.  She was like..."You want to do what with what?"  >:(  I had a lot of wallpapers, ringtones, and games and I really didn't want to have to buy them again.  I have Cingular.  Depends on your carrier maybe?

Yes you have to repurchase the games and ringtones you had on one phone, to your newer phone.  I know it sucks, but it's in the fine print somewhere on the cingular website.  My daughter seems to give them a call and get her ringtones back.  Never works for me though.

I think the site has to be UP for you to get credit or progress for the games you play. However you could just play and then let the progress build up and sign back in when Pogo is back online, that's how I've been doing it and I Still get credit for everything O0

That doesn't seem to work with Cingular.  Or maybe it was just my phone.  I remember I played 200+ games without signing in every game and I got squat!

That stinks! Verizon I have had no issues with. However, I still can't get Tripeaks on my phone for some reason. I have been trying to contact people from Verizon, but with it being the holidays and all it's been harder to get a straight answer out of the employees there. I have faith it will all work out for the best in regards to my Pogo addiction.

I just git a new phone, and my plan is to send tones and pics from the old one via multimedia message. Of course, you need to borrow a SIM card from someone else, but it's cheaper than re-buying everything.

I wish it worked with games, too

I don't know if cingular offers this, but verizon does.  You can go paperless bills and have them take your amt due right out of your checking and they will give you a $20 credit.  That is how I got my mobile games on my new phone for free.

Well, here I come again.  :-[

Does anyone know how I sign out of poppit mobile with my name and back into it with my daughters name? It is not in options like it was in turbo.  :P

Also, I ordered the tripeaks through the cingular site and it said my purchase was complete and it would send me a message to download it but thats been several hours ago and I still haven't gotten a thing.  Poppit and Turbo came right away.  :-\

Let me see if I remember now.....You should be able to go to Main Menu, then Options and it should be there.  You should be able to sign in and out there.

Also, if you didn't get Tri Peaks call them up and tell them you didn't get it.  They will send it to you again. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks again, Angel.  :) It wasn't under options and didn't seem to be anywhere else so I went to help and it said it should be under options but all I had was difficulty level and sound under the options tab.  :( LOL  Anyhow, the help section said to press ok to sign in or out so I just went to options and held the ok button down and the sign out option magically appeared.  ;D That was wild but it is still there so hopefully it will stay.  ???

And you have been a ton of help, Angel.  :) I do not know anyone in pogo that is working on the mobile badges so I have no one else to ask but here, and it helps just to have someone to talk to about it.  :)

Hi Jewel,

Your very welcome.  I do know what your talking about.  I remember some people saying that they didn't have a sign in or sign out function under Options.  They thought something was wrong with the game, but I guess maybe that is just how it works for some phones.  In any case, I am glad you figured it out. :)

I am glad I could help you, Jewel.  I don't know many people who are doing the mobile either so this is a good place to get questions answered.  Someone usually always has an answer.
