so...what are everyone's thoughts on the playoff race? My opinion is pretty clear
<---------------
and even though the Pittsburgh D sucked a** the first 1/2 of the game, I think the Steelers are a force to be reckoned with...but I am so afraid of Indy...
NFC...now there's another story...Carolina made Atlanta look like a high school team today...they are definately riding the momentum...
AND
Since we are not doing picks for the playoffs...(I think Homer is tired of adding... :-*) here's mine...
Pittsburgh
New England
Washington
Carolina
I am so excited...I love the playoffs...
Mine here:
PIT over CIN
JAX over NE
CAR over NYG
TB over WAS

Ditto on those same ones for me. Carolina will probably crush the Giants. Washington will probably win by a TD, or lose by a field goal, but I think they'll win. The Pats will probably win by a TD too. Pittsburgh will
crush the Bengals. If all of those are right, next week it will be the Pats vs Denver, and Pittsburgh vs Indy. Eeeek. Denver scares me. Lol. And I'll actually be picking the Pittsburgh upset over Indy if they play.
Heres mine:
Cin over Pitt
Jax over NE
NYG over Car
TB over Wash
Gl guys
My thoughts:
Tampa Bay beats Washington;
Jacksonville beats the former champs New England.. even though it's in NE, I think Jax beats the team with the lowest record, even if they are the champs (it ain't gonna happen this year);
Carolina beats NY Giants;
Cincinnati beats Pittsburgh.. and although Pitt may be favored on the road, I think the home crowd and the need to continue a great season for a usually bad Cincy team, helps them come out on top.
No matter what happens, there should be some really good games this year.. how rare is it for every single team in the playoffs to have 10+ wins?? No 9-7 or (gasp!) even an 8-8 team squeaking into the playoffs.. maybe we can actually get by without any big blowouts.. but I'm sure there's bound to be at least one.
Here's mine:
New England over JAX (even if Leftwich is back, he'll be rusty in the cold...plus it's freakin' Tom Brady)
Cincy over Steeltown (willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. won most recently in Pitt and are at home now)
Washington over Tampa Bay (good rematch from an awesome regular season game)
NYG over Carolina (i think Tiki is on a tear right now)
Looking forward to these last few weeks of football!!

Now, I'm not taking sides here but......yes, they are the "Bungles" but they had a great season and we'll see if they can finish it up with a Super Bowl win. As for the Steelers, they had a great season last year and "Big Ben" looked like a "bungle" in the AFC championship game. He was a rookie and played like one. This year the Steelers had another great season and with last year behind him, let's see what Ben can do this year. May the better team win. I'm just hoping to see a good game.
No hate towards the Steelers, just nice to see an Ohio team in the playoffs since my lowly Browns are yeeeeears away still.
here my superbowl teams the 2006 superbowl will be the COLTS and SEAHAWKS with the final SCORE COLTS 24 SEAHAWKS 27 O0

UGH!! THe browns?? BOOOO HISSSSS
LOL Sorry I'm a die hard steelers fan
Yes, Helen, big Browns fan though not from Cleveland (Columbus). Even through the lean years, I'd punch John Elway in the mouth if I ever saw him on the street. :-X Just kidding...sort of.
Glad we have a decent coach finally, now if only we could shore up the holes on defense.
Do seem to be a bunch of Steelers fans in this forum. It's a good rivalry and you guys have earned all the success you've had in recent years, just too bad you couldn't win a Superbowl for The Bus. (and don't try to tell me it's gonna happen this year) 8)
I'm hoping that Ben doesn't play his rookie card again this year. ::) Anyone else notice the number of injuries he's had this season?

yeah...but he has played well through most of them...As a fellow Steelers fan, you know how we Pittsburghers like to turn on our QB's at the first sign of weakness...so he better not wuss out on us this year! (He will still be dreamy though...lol)
And as for the "Let's win the SuperBowl for the Bus"...I am firmly on that bandwagon and think they actually have a chance to do it. The amount of respect, love and drive that the team has for Jerome just might be the reason they get there...
Man I hope they win...or Monday is going to be a rough one for me (and the rest of the Black and Gold Diehards) on this forum... :-*

Ethan, I was born and raised in Cleveland and then moved to a suburb of Youngstown after getting married. I've been a Browns fan my whole life and even through the lean years will remain one. I'm halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh so you know what I have to put up with here, lol. I have twin sons and they both lived in Columbus at one point. Actually, one went to Capital University and recently relocated to Las Vegas. The other just bought his house in Columbus a year ago. We found a really nice Browns Backers bar and went there one Sunday for the game. It was the "winking" something or another, lol. My daughter lives in a suburb of Pittsburgh and you'd be surprised to see how many Browns fans actually live there.
It is a good rivalry and I was sad when we lost our team and the rivalry came to a sudden stop. I do have to admit that I did cheer for the Steelers the first time they played the Ravens. I was also very impressed when Art Rooney wouldn't allow Modell to enter his stadium. That made my day.

I would not take that Seattle win over Indy too seriously, it meant nothing.. Indy had already sewn up home field throughout the playoffs and rested many of their star players including Manning who only played 1 quarter, and didn't play Harrison at all.. They were just coming off their first loss of the year, so they were not playing for an undefeated season either.. plus their head coach was not at the game because he had just lost his son to a suicide.. a win meant nothing to Indy on that day, but Seattle still needed it to get their home field advantage, if they met up again, you can bet it would be a much different game.
Also, not to really take anything away from Seattle, cuz they are a good team and had a real nice season.. but they really did have a pretty easy schedule that they walked over this year. It helps when the other 3 teams in your division are St. Louis, San Fran, and Arizona, who had a
combined win total of 15. Granted, Indy got to beat up on Houston and Tennessee, but they also had the 12-4 Jags who they beat twice, and also beat Pittsburgh and the Patriots IN New England (which has been their downfall in recent past). The best team (other than that Colts game) that Seattle beat all year was the Giants, and believe me they are no Indy.

AND SO DID THE SEATTLE SEAHAWKS WE PLAYING ALL ARE GAMES AT HOME AND WE RESTED ALL ARE GOOD PLAYERS BUT I KNOW ALL U HATERS CAN TALK NOW BUT U WILL EAT YOUR WORDS AFTER SEAHAWKS WIN THE SUPERBOWL BUT TILL THEN U FREE TO BE A HATER ;D O0
opps my bad sry 4 caps :'(
i'm gonna be a hater ;D
SANATA.. Seattle did not rest all of their starters for the Indy game, they still needed that win to get their home field advantage, it wasn't until after that week that they were able to rest people. Hasselbeck played the entire game, Alexander played the entire game, and got well over 100 yards rushing. Indy was the team resting everyone for that game.
And I don't think me or anyone was hating on Seattle or anyone else, just stating opinions is all. (Well, except for bobby maybe lol).

Actually, Homer 8), the Browns were named for Paul Brown, legendary Ohio football coach. Coached Ohio St. to their first national championship in '42 and was the first coach ever for both the Browns and the Bengals. If he were Ron Burgundy he would say, "I'm kind of a big deal."
Helen, I actually live in California now, but called Columbus home my entire life up until college. OSU is the only
real professional football team in that town so I had to pick. And since when I was a kid all my friends were doing the dreaded Ickey Shuffle, I hitched my wagon to Bernie Kosar and never looked back. Would love to go to a Steelers/Browns game sometime though, sounds like you're in a good position to do that!
As for all this Seattle/Indianapolis talk...I just can't look too far from Tom Brady, the man is 9-0 in playoff games.

I have been to Browns/Steelers games in both cities and the ones in Cleveland have been fun. The one that I did attend in Pittsburgh was the Sunday night game when Couch QB'd and beat the Steelers and more than half the stadium cleared out at halftime. Let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight for Browns fans. I actually feared for my life. I went with my daughter and we had people wanting to beat us up, even women.
It was just dang scary. We had to attach ourselves to a group of LARGE men Browns fans and they walked us to our car.

so sorry about your experience Helen, that gives us (as steelers fans) a bad name...but the Steelers Nation can be very rabid at times.... ;)
I don't think any fans have been more criticized than Eagles fans. For crying out loud you boo Santa Claus 50 years ago and ESPN mentions it all the time. :o

I can't believe Sean Taylor spit in Michael Pittman's face. That is the ultimate sign of disrespect. I don't care what Pittman said. There is no excuse for spitting on another person. :-\
So that is the second time he spit another different player. Last year he did to T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Pittman should been ejected as well for hitting him in the face after the spit. Why not? hitting back suspends too. Like in school.
I remember Bill Romanowski spit on J.J. Stokes, Moises Alou spit on umpire. Who else? Maybe Bart spit on Moe too? :D

I would have had no problem with Pittman getting ejected either. In fact he should have been. I don't see how the ref couldn't have seen it. I was not aware Taylor had done this before.
I am still in the dark over this one. I think there should have been some "spit" on his face for more than just ONE judge to see. and if he did spit in his face and this is number 2. I would trade him....... If anyone spit in my face, there would be a fight right then and there. >:D I was watching the game and it just did not seam right to me. But I was not on the field so see it?..... However, I do not think that a player should be ejected for hitting someone that just spit in his face. I mean this is NOT school yard football. What would your first reactions be if someone spit in your face? But that is just my thoughts.
Anyone spitting in my face would be choking on his teeth. They sports announcers said he will be getting fined but probably not suspended. They have mixed opinions on his suspension. Football is big business and sad to say, he probably will not be suspended and he knows it.
I remember it was stupid that Fred Miller and Olin Kreutz got in a fight too. I dont even know who won LOL.

and as for good games...this first one is kinda blah...and yesterday's were too...
Yes, this first game is very boring.
i am watching the game now. Bengals leading still GRRR. Announced that Carson Palmer has a Torn ACL and is out of the playoffs. Now John KINTNA is now the backup.
What happened to the Giants today? I thought I was going to watch a football game...... Seams like someone forgot to tell the giants they had to do more than just show up today. That was a sad game.
I dont believe this.. this is like yesterday's Bucs game. I know those catches are not incomplete at all. I know that Randel El catch was a TD. But oh well, the Bus ran the Bengals OVER.
Yes, sad game. But to say this, GO PANTHERS!
STEELERS WON! BENGALS - GO ****ING HOME! ITS STEELERS TIME!
YEAH-owsa! Whew...I have no fingernails left...Way to go Steelers!
Ben's not just dreamy...he's frickin fantastic! :-*
and how about those Panthers today???wow...
Here we go Steelers, here we go...
Now that was an exciting game...

It was a very exciting game. Steelers did deserve the win. I just hope that Carson Palmer will be able to play next season. It would be a loss to the NFL to lose a QB of his caliber.

I could not agree more, Helen...I was just sick watching the replay of that one...but for Marvin Lewis to even insinuate that Kimo intentionally went after the knee is just ludicrous and uncalled for. Carson is an amazing player and will be for years to come...he has 6 months to recover, so hopefully, his healing will go well...

Yes, Lewis was wrong to insinuate intention. You could see the pained look on his face after the hit. It was unfortunate but it happens. Here's to Carson's quick recovery. Also, hope the Steelers get their injured players back in shape for next week's game.
Aww I'm sad Bengals lost. As an Ohioan I've been waiting for the season since the late 80s lol. Whoever said that they put a ban on steelers buying tickets for today- that just cant be true since the tickets have been sold out for a few days. My husband paid a pretty penny to see the game and he still isnt home yet.
And Poor Palmer! Ouchhh. He just signed a 9 year contract I hope that he's good to go next season.

Hooper, I too am an Ohioan and was rooting for the Bengals even though the Browns are my team. Kudos to the Steelers though.
They played a good game.
Ok, off to watch Desperate Housewives now.....lol.

I still hadn't heard anything like that. We went to a rally on Friday where the mayor announced it to be Who Dey Day and all that fun stuff and we tailgated most the night. Still never heard a single solitary word of that and there was a lot of talk that day. Where did you hear that from? Just curious.
~*Heather*~
The TV announcers also said it during the game that Bengals fans were asked not to "scalp" their tickets to Steelers fans.
They wanted to keep home field and fan turnout in their favor.
Gotcha so it was the announcers. I gotcha now. I watched the game and played pogo and took care of the kids so I could have missed that at some point.

Ok...so this week's picks are a little dicey-er...Got all 4 right last week...I don't expect the same this week...
Pittsburgh's gonna go into Indy and beat them at their own game...GO BEN GO! GO BUSSY GO!`
Denver is going to take advantage of home field and all that thin air...
Carolina is going to re-introduce the Bears to Steve Smith...and win in a landslide...
Washington has tons of momentum...they just may win...(Yes, that is my half-a**ed pick)
Whaddya all think?
I am so frickin' excited...it just gives me the chills! :D

When it comes to the play-offs, anything can happen. You just never know. Look at the injury to Carson Palmer. Had he stayed in the game, who knows what the outcome would have been? I have my favorites and who I think will win but this is the time when betting money on games is a no-no (https://www.pogocheats.net/proxy/?http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/nono.gif) for me. The only team I think will lose is Washington only for the fact that you can't score 3 points on offense and expect to win a game. You can't depend on your defense to do the scoring for you, lol. But Helen...Remember the (1999,2000,2001???) Baltimore Ravens? Defense wins championships... and its not like Washington doesn't have Clinton Portis and Santana Moss... Like i said, that was a shaky game for me too... ;)
Foxx, I agree with what you say but you can't depend on your defense to score for you every week. Like I said before though, in the play-offs, anything can happen, lol.
Let me quickly throw out my picks for this weekend so I can say I got 1 right on Monday!
'Hawks swooping down and tearing apart the 'Skins
The bucking Broncos toss the Patriots off their backs!
Colts in a CLOSE game over The Steelers (Colts won't cover the spread!)
and my team: The Panthers all over Da Bears in a blow out ala The Little Giants!!!!!!!!
I would have to agree with all of SaintHippo's picks. Washington's win streak is gonna come to an end.. you know you are lucky to still be playing when your QB goes 7-15 for all of 41 total passing yards.. so you think they must have been running up and down the field all day, but the entire rushing game totaled less than 100 yds. For Tampa not to win that game, had to be some weird fluke and they gotta be kickin themselves in the rear for not winning when the Skins did so little on offense. They will go into Seattle and get torn apart. New England was impressive in beating a 12-4 Jax team, but they were at home, and they aren't gonna have that advantage anymore. Denver is unbeaten at home, and I think it stays that way, with them beating NE. Pittsburgh did eventually take care of Cincy, but it was close for awhile, and with Cincy having to go without their #1 QB for all but 2 plays. Gonna be a lot tougher to take care of the Colts in their dome.. I think Indy wins it, and this could have the possibility of being something like a 37-34.. 37-31 kinda game, lots of scoring with not much attention to the defense. And one thing I will disagree with SaintHippo about is the Carolina-Chicago game.. I do like Carolina to win it, but think it will rather be a close, low scoring game. Both teams have good defenses, especially Chicago, but I think the Panthers will have just a little too much for the Bears to stop. Could be 14-6, 17-9, something around there.
But what do I really know.. I only picked one of the first games right, and that was Carolina.. so if the majority of these are wrong, I'm gonna blame it on SaintHippo, since he posted them first O0

Well I hate Denver and will be laughing when they lose. :P. Actually I don't really hate Denver, I hate whoever the Patriots play that week. :D
And unlike most people, I would go out on a limb right now and say that Pitt will upset Indy. The Bus doesn't want to go, so he'll be playing his heart out, and I think everyone will on the Steelers FOR him.
I actually think that Seattle is gonna get upset too, and I think Carolina will win

This is the NFL Playoffs.. this is one-and-done territory.. it doesn't get anymore crucial than that. If a team needs to play for anything else besides that, like "for the Bus", then they have problems to begin with. You shouldn't need any more incentive than the fact that it is the playoffs and if ya don't win, you're on your extended vacation earlier than other teams.
And Seattle may indeed get upset.. eventually.. but it can't be against the Skins. If Washington wins again, then they must have all been helpin little old ladies cross the street or somethin to be that smiled upon.

I don't believe that the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing "for the Bus"...I do think the team wants to win the Superbowl...but the amount of love that team has for Jerome is indescribable. Every team wants to play hard, wants the trophy, wants the ring. But the Steelers really want to be able to hand that Trophy to Bus...because he is an inspiration to all of them. I feel the same way about the Colts right now. I think that team really wants (as an
added drive) to give Tony Dungy some joy considering the pain he has endured this year.
A team with
added incentive, besides the obvious "championship", is a team to be reckoned with. I think that is all anyone was trying to say.

NOW LET'S GO BEN... LET'S GO BUSSY...LET'S GO BIG NASTY D!
Great game for Denver, especially with all the turnovers... but a few of those Broncos need to keep their heads in the game at all times. That one play where Champ Bailey intercepted in the end zone and ran it all the way back, he barely ever looked around to see if any defenders were coming at him.. and he had 2 Broncos running along with him to block for him, and they did nothing but jog along with Bailey towards the end of the run.. it actually serves them right for having the Patriots player run all the way downfield and hit him and knock the ball out at the last second.. if that had been ruled a touchback and Patriots ball, Bailey would deserve to be benched. How can you be so dumb to not pay attention? And not only that, he puts the ball in his right hand and barely holds onto it just before he's gonna go into the endzone.. the perfect spot for it to get knocked out from.. he is definitely lucky that that didn't cost his team those points.
Now Foxx, that's just plain mean, lol. What about when the Steelers were winning so much?
Did you like to hear those comments about your team?? hahaha I'm looking forward to a really good game tomorrow.

Helen...that was the 70's (the last time we were winning ANYTHING MEANINGFUL so much)....and I was in diapers! LOL!
I know what you mean though, and I will try to be nice. :-* The Patriots just made too many mistakes tonight, and that's not something that they usually do. Poor Troy Brown. :(
And I agree with you RC...the Broncos need to have their heads FULLY in the game. I blame that "almost a pick for a TD, but not quite" on his blockers. They were prematurely celebrating with Bailey.

You're quite welcome. I guess you know it's down at the Waterfront, right? Oh, when you walk in, look immediately to your left, at the circular booth at the end of the row of booths. That's where Big Ben usually sits, lol.
QuoteINDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts cornerback Nick Harper's wife was jailed Saturday night on charges of cutting him with a knife, a sheriff said.
Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter said Daniell Harper, 31, was being held without bond on charges of battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.
Nick Harper was treated for a knee injury at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. His injuries were not life-threatening, Carter said.
Harper, a starter, was listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC divisional playoff game against Pittsburgh.
Earlier Saturday, Colts spokesman Craig Kelley said Harper had required stitches in his knee following an "accident." He said he had no other details.
Kelley told The Associated Press later that he had gotten his information from Colts officials.
"There was not an accident," Carter said. He said Harper and his wife had been involved in a fight.
Harper, 31, was arrested in June on a domestic battery charge after police said he hit his wife.
I know I am tired but...
Here's where the NFL gets me. This guy, who has had previous charges against him for DV, would be on the field tomorrow if his knee would allow. But TO (and trust me, I am not trying to legitimize TO's actions) gets barred from playing for "Conduct Detrimental to the Team". If beating your wife is not detrimental conduct...then we live in an effed up country.

I'm not taking sides for TO or against him but the fine line they are drawing is "detrimental to the team" and what Harper did was not against the team. Like you said, it's effed up!!

You're quite welcome. I guess you know it's down at the Waterfront, right? Oh, when you walk in, look immediately to your left, at the circular booth at the end of the row of booths. That's where Big Ben usually sits, lol.
LOL...loving you!
Do you hail from the 'burgh? Or just your daughter?
I'm originally from Cleveland and live in a suburb of Youngstown now. My daughter's job took her to Pittsburgh. She lived in the Greentree are until she bought her house in Cranberry Township. She has shown me many sites in the Pittsburgh area and I've gotten to know it pretty well.
Happy hunting.....lol. Oh, if you need more locations where they hang out, let me know.
I'm thinking he would actually have to be convicted of something first before the team could punish him somehow, legally.. like Helen said, it had nothing to do with the team so they can't say that. And since he was arrested in June and still played the season, I'm assuming he didn't really do any jail time. Not to mention, from this article, it sounds like the wife is an aggressor too, using deadly weapons against him.. doesn't exactly sound like a happy home. How bout getting a divorce instead of trying to beat each other up or kill someone.
I totally agree RC. Sounds like divorce would be the answer before someone really gets hurt bad.

Doesn't exactly work that way...If my husband beat me up on a regular basis, and I thought I had no options (because I am sure that is where she is...) I might knife him too. Good thing I have a husband who is not a batterer.

As I post this Indy just missed a FG. Poor Vanderjagt (sp?) That wasn't even close.

Go Panthers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carolina is owning the Bears right now. Didn't the bears only give up like 5 or 6 TD's in the WHOLE regular season? If that second TD for the Panthers stands. They'd be ahead 14-0.
16-7 at half time, not bad since i picked the bears to score 3 through the whole game ;D

Name one reason where Brady came off as being arrogant in a statement. For him being one of the best players in football, he isn't arrogant at ALL. Ya might have to go through 1000 Google search pages to find something that was arrogant by him. And also find a statement where he said he was the best player in the NFL. You'll never find a statement like that. even if you go through 100000000 Google search pages. He handles his fame very well.
And sorry Bobby. The Bears just got outplayed today.

NFL reported that Ray Brown, age 43, retires. He was an offensive tackle for the Redskins. Spent 23 years in NFL.
I didn't do too bad with my picks for this past weekend. I got 3 out of 4. I said Indy wouldn't cover the spread and based on the fact they lost, I would say they didn't cover! I said Carolina would blowout Da Bears. While it wasn't a complete blowout, it also wasn't a defensive struggle they still got the victory. So if you were a betting man (or woman) and listened to all my picks last week, you would have went 4 for 4 spread wise and 3 out of 4 win wise! Later this week, I'll pick the two conf game (most likely than not, I'll still be picking my Panthers!)
well if u go with carolina u will be wrong again as the seahawks have not lost a game at home and will not lose a game at home trust me and as far as my picks for next week iam going with seahawks over carolina and denver or steelers and for superbowl SEAHAWKS over denver O0

I didn't do too badly this week either...Steelers, Panthers and Denver were the correct ones...and I wasn't real comfy with my Washington pick anyway... 7 of 8 for the playoffs thus far. :D
I'm with you St.Hippo....I will pick my Seattle-Panthers game later this week... But it is becoming more and more clear to me that the Steelers are destined for the Superbowl (and I never pick against them), so Steelers over Denver on sunday! :)
I'm going with Carolina and Denver to the Super Bowl with Denver taking it
I would agree with pogohatesme's picks, Carolina-Denver. Carolina was very impressive with their win over the Bears in Chicago.. against that defense, the best in the league, to get 29 points off them, when I think it was stated that Chicago only gave up 61 pts total all year long at home.. that's about half as many pts in just one game, unreal. And remember Carolina is just a couple years removed from being in the Super Bowl, after having a lot of injuries last year, they are back to form the way they were then and don't have the great Patriots team in their way this time.. although I'm not saying they will win it all, but they have a good shot. Denver is unbeaten at home, they took out the defending champs and made NE look silly almost at times. I don't think Pitt can keep it up all the way through the big game.. it is hard enough for any team to win 4 playoff games in one year, but to win them all on the road would seem next to impossible. Yes, they took out the mighty Colts, but then again, the Colts always seem to choke in the playoffs no matter how good they are.. and Pitt almost gave that up even, with some almost costly huge mistakes near the end of that one. I don't think they have the same luck in Denver. And I would guess Denver to win the big one over Carolina, but like I said, the Panthers could surprise there, and they would end up with the same thing as Pitt, having 4 road games.. but with how they've handled them so far, I almost think they want to be on the road.
lol I wish my picks were that in depth.....the only reason I picked like that was because
1. the Colts lost.
2. da Bears lost.
3. I hate the Steelers
4. Denver was easier to type lol

Yeah...poor guy was at a bar in the Southside when it happened...I am a relatively young woman in good health and I thought I was on the verge of a heartattack when Bussy fumbled! The man is doing okay though...and Dan Patrick actually had both Bus and that gentleman on today and Bus warned him that the Denver game would be another close one...and the guy said he would be sitting in front of the TV, heart attack or no heart attack. That's just good stuff!

Ok, took me a while to review stats, past games, current injuries, weather, time of day, practice schedule, history & what they're eatting for breakfest on that Sunday to finally come to the conclusion on my picks:
Pittsburgh (+3) @ Denver (over/under 41)... I'm taking Pittsburgh to win this one and I'm going to say it will be OVER 41. I had to decide long and hard on this one. Most people are under estimating Denver because they haven't been the spotlight as much as other teams this season and yet that have the 2nd best record in the NFL (tied with Seattle). Not to mention the home field advantage. However, with the sense of the "experts" (btw: who really listen to them. They're wrong 50% of the time anyway) going in many different directions, I'm going to not count them in my decision. I like the way Pittsburgh played last week against a tougher Colts team than the Broncos did against a much weaker Patriots team and I expect them to keep it alive.
Carolina (+3.5) @ Seattle (over/under 43.5)... Well, I'm a fan of all Carolina teams even though I'm from Los Angeles. I've been with them all season long and pretty much NEVER pick against them... and why should it change now? Seattle has the MVP, the home field, the momentum, and everything saying they should win. That's why I'm expecting a HUGE choke here in the conference finals. While it's made for an awesome story of what they've done so far this season, I just don't see them overcoming the sudden firepower that is Carolina. Carolina had a better defensive season than Seattle and in the playoffs, have scored, scored and scored over the "best defense in the NFL" otherwise known as Da Bears. So take the 3.5, take the OVER, take the Panthers and take them to the SuperBowl it will include two teams looking to go undefeated on the Road!
And if I'm wrong, don't blame me for your money lost... this is purely for entertainment purposes only. :D
big talk here where I live is the Seattle seahawks game on sunday....anyone think they'll win? even though I think football is icky, I'm secretly hoping they win
Don't know about Seattle's chances but haven't seen a good cat fight in years lol

Dude...you are thorough! I like your logic...and apparently you know what the heck you're talking about...so I am going with St. Hippo's picks too!
And what's with the Matt Kenseth highjacking the thread thing? You think he's yummy and that Ben looks like "ogre"... yeah...ok.
Lmao

GOOOOO Seahawks!!!! ;D
Well, I didn't do so well on my picks. Let's see how I did: picked Pittsburg over Denver (correct). Said you should take the spread in that game (correct) and I said you should take the over 41 (correct). Whoo hoo, 3 out of 3 in the 1st game. I was smiling with glee...
...then the 2nd game happened. My Panthers let me down. You would think I'd be used to this being a Clippers' fan and all but they didn't even show up. Well, at least I didn't do that bad on my predictions... did I? Hmmm, picked Carolina over Seahawks (incorrect), said take the spread (incorrect), said take the over 43.5 (correct). Hmmmm, I'm hoping you didn't place any money based on my picks. :D Well, look at the bright side: 4 out of 6 isnt' that bad. You would have came out on top money wise if you did bet.
Well, since I have 2 weeks to decide how I think the Super Bowl XL is going to play out, I'll wait until then. Plus I don't know any spreads (some are giving Seattle 3.5 points and others 4 points but the over/under is the same = 47) and anything can happen in two weeks. So I'll just wait so I can make the greatest predictions you'll hear all year long and you can bank on that...
...(not responsible if you do bank on it. Saint is not a football expect, picks lousy sports teams that show up once in a blue moon and have never won any real money while gambling. He's mostly talk a big game without really being able to back it up)

lol that's cute thanks for the disclaimer...but your right...4 outta 6 ain't that bad lol...
Got my team colors on. Yall ready to rumble Hawks
since this is the seahawks first trip to the superbowl (ever) I must tell you Seattle has gone well, insanely nuts does not even begin to describe it. They have had a 12th man flag perched on top of the space needle now for about 2 weeks and the city is planning on leaving it there thru the superbowl.
