Title: Problems with sherlock
Post by: missminimouse on February 01, 2006, 11:35:30 AM
I'm trying out Sherlock,  and it doesn't seem to be working right. Even on easy, once it collects all the peices it starts a new game.    Once on medium it actually started to put together the puzzle,  but then stopped and just sat there,  didn't do anything.   Help someone,  this is so irritating to watch it continuously start a new game.

Ok,   I think there was something actually wrong with the program,  cuz it was seriously having hiccups.  I tried it on all 3 settings and just let it go.  Then i tried to redownload it,  same thing.  Finally I gave up and tried jigsaw detector,  that seemed worse.   I was getting so frustrated.  Finally I downloaded sherlock again and this time it is working great.   Is actually solving the puzzles now,  yippee.

I think there may be a glitch in the program today or something,  not totally sure.  I tried it,  and sometimes it would work ok for a couple mins,  then just stop working.   Sometimes it wouldn't work at all.    It would close out on me a few times and I'd get an IE error msg.  So i think maybe a glich in the programming?    Maybe someone can look into it.

Sherlock plain just doesn't work on my computer. Most of the time, I can see what the problem probably stems from, but not this one. It opens every shortcut on my desktop, starts MS Office, you name it. It's like a gremlin has invaded ALL our computers. ( I have tried the trial version on all  of our systems to see if it was endemic to some add-ons I have.)

I used Jigsaw Detective and finished the new game last night. If Jigsaw Detective worked for you, and you still have a copy, give it a whirl. Yes, every now and then it misses the piece at the 11:50 position ( upper left, one piece from the corner) but other than that, it runs fine for me. The proof is in the badges, after all. :)
