I bought Sherlock just 3 days ago. It worked wonderful during the trial and for the first day, then started having some serious hiccups. It would restart puzzle multiple times and then finally would just sit there after putting the pieces in the bottom right corner. Other times it would leave pieces on the mat, then pull the drawer down and attempt to get pieces, but would reset puzzle. This kept going on every time I would open the program and retry it. Then Oscar sent me the code for Detector 6.3 to use in place of Sherlock. It runs OK, but only on medium speed. Whenever I try it on fast speed, it invariably misses a piece and just will not go forward when this happens. So, I was running Detector on medium which takes 8-9 minutes a puzzle.
Now to the point of this post. I discovered today that if I open Sherlock with the game on the Main page, it runs much better and solves puzzles in 2-3 minutes, usually solving 5 or more puzzles before having a hiccup. If it did have an issue, I would close it out, reset puzzle and go back to the main page, then open Sherlock again and let it do it's thing. Also, this is one of the autos that will only run on IE for me, doesn't find the game browser if I try to use it on Firefox. I have a few other autos that do the same thing, yet I have autos that work fine on Firefox.
I hope I haven't bored anyone with this post and I hope this tip might help some of you others that have had problems with Sherlock. I would have been fine if Detector would have worked on fast speed, (I can probably do most puzzles myself in 8-9 minutes), so I was determined to find a faster way to get these cases solved. I just started the puzzle badges on Feb 5, and now have 4 so far. Hope to have them all caught up by the time the March case comes out.
I need the new update on Sherlock please >> 6.3

I do not know why I was blocked by you I only want to know how I get 6.3 for Sherlock
My computer gave me great problems and i lost everything and All I want is the new reg code
I did delete the old 1.5 and 6.3 is the update as you know I just need some help please thanks
lol dealing with sherlock made me want to complete the puzzles myself
:-X ???
I did not block you. Now if you mean your posts being removed that is for a reason. You have a tendency to post your requests everywhere but where they belong. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but it isn't necessary to make multiple posts etc.
For example you posted a question about Sherlock in a thread concerning club passes. This isn't the way to get assistance.
Homer
I am sorry I guess I am not good at this yet I apologize to you
I am trying to learn what is a thread and so on please except my apology
It's ok. I'm not mad at you. ;)
If you need help with autos post in the technical help section.
You'll need to be patient at times. We don't always have the answers you are looking for. We do try though.
I understand people get frustrated when their autos don't work. Hell, I get frustrated when I can't help someone with their problem.
Sherlock seems to be a tricky auto. It seems to work great for some but not for others.
Members who post their computer specs in tech help I try to help as much as I can. If you have posted your computer specs and weren't able to get the auto running the best thing to do is to send a screen shot to BadgeHelp. The screen shot can be given to the appropriate programmer so they can try and diagnose what the problem may be. If you do submit a screen shot please understand that a fix will not likely be available right away. The programmers do their best trying to keep the autos working and providing updates as quickly as they can.
One thing I forgot to mention is.... If you have a version of a program that is working for you it is not necessary to update it to the latest release. If the auto you have is working then there is no need to upgrade it. As someone mentioned earlier....If it ain't broke don't fix it. ;)

Here are some tips another member used to improve the performance of Sherlock.

Thanks for being a gentleman
I had 6.3 but lost it threw a bad crash on the computer I did send a screen short today to badgehelp
My specs are all correct 32 < 1024-768 unchecked smooth edges winxp2
Thanks and I know how hard you work I see it every day
The only thing I don't see is what java you are using.
Whatever java you are using try switching to the other.
There are 2 javas.
1. Sun Java
2. Microsoft VM
You can find your java settings at Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Tab
Once at the Advanced Tab you'll need to scroll down a little and you'll see Sun Java and VM is right below it.
If your computer does not have VM you can get it at the following link https://www.alibre.com/alibrelibraries/ftp/JavaVM/9xNT4/msjavx86.exe
After saving this file you will need to double click it to install VM.
Do not have both javas checked off. Only have one enabled.
The Sun setting is easy. There is only one box to check off.
If you are switching your java to VM uncheck the Sun Java setting and under the VM settings the only box you need to check is the one for the JIT Compiler.
After making your change click ok to close the menu. Close your browser. Anytime you switch javas it is necessary to close the browser and reopen it again for the changes to take effect.
Homer
I have VM sorry I forgot to mention it all my games run good on it thanks
Do you have Sun Java?
If not go to www.java.com and install Sun Java then give it a try again. ;)
http://tokenwinner.com/jigsaw/JigsawDetector.exe
One other thing. I don't know if you are ware of it but according to Badgehelp the auto only works on the Medium difficulty setting.
Yes I do know
I ran it before and it was great with no problems at all
I cannot thank you enough Just waiting now for my reg code from replacecodes
Thanks a mill times
Your welcome and good luck. I hope you get things running. ;)
Homer
I got the 6.3 in
WOW it is great the puzzle fly's thanks so much for all your help
PS I hope this is in the right place to write this I get worried
Thanks for all the help.............
Great! Now go get those badges! :D
Homer
the game is running the best thanks so much for you help it is flying the 6.3 your the best
Glad I could help. ;)
Sherlock absolutely will not do anything right on my system.
The last version of Jigsaw Detector ( is that the right name?) works OK, but will miss one piece in the left upper corner every now and then.
First poster is right in that speed does count with Jigsaw but it will finish a puzzle without any glitches in less than 3 minutes on Medium difficulty. :)
I've had the same problem w/Sherlock from day one.Unfortunately I deleted Jigsaw Detector,(which worked fine) when I downloaded Sherlock. Now there is no link to download Jigsaw Detector. From the number of people reporting the same glitch with this program it's got to be the program.Admins-any plans to tweak/update Sherlock?
The link for both programs is on the BH website.
I can't get eiither the 6.3 Jigsaw Detector or Sherlock to work on my computer either. 6.3 will do the border, but not the inside. Sherlock just keeps pieces in the corner. I have tried all different things that have been suggested here and nothing works. And the tip that was posted here - what does this mean - if I open Sherlock with the game on the Main page what main page are you referring to.
