How about you?
Isn't that illegal? :o
I would hope they would tell you first of their financial status. If you love them it shouldn't matter one way or the other as long as they are up front and honest. If they haven't been honest with you about it before then I'd say there might be a problem.
I agree Shasta .. I married for love - not a credit score .... even tho it didnt work out, I wouldnt change a thing.
I would hope he would tell me his financial situation is bad...its funny you say do a credit check...thats kinda my job...I put stuff and take stuff off peoples credit reports...but u have to live in my state...so noooooooooo I can't help anyone straighten there credit back out....lol

the orginal post was do you think you should run a credit check on someone your going to marry
oh theres been alot of that on tv and some very famous finacial experts say you should because when you marry you get each others debt :) i myself has fantastic credit over 800 score but i have been single for many years :)) :)) :))
Wait, maybe before it's locked I can get in a "credit reports are excellent in making sure you don't turn out like the movie 'Firewall'" and that's all I have to say!
Everyone should check their credit report yearly. Cases of identity theft are a big problem.
There is a new problem going around lately. A person can clean out your bank account if you happen to open the email and click on the link. The best advice I can give people is to never open email from anyone you don't recognize.
When I have time I'll start a new topic listing scams from past and present that I'm aware of. You'd be surprised what can happen just by opening a seemingly innocent email. :o

The second best advice would be to install the Google Safe Browsing extension for Firefox. Everytime you go to a website, Google scans it against their directory (like the way virus definitions work). On a broadband connection, it adds maybe a second or two to load times. Anyway, if it's a safe site, you go through; if it's NOT, it throws up a warning to you before it actually connects. Maximum respect to Firefox & Google for that O0
I can't wait until they start charging the spammers. I don't have all the specifics of it but you will only be able to add so many adresses to an individual email. Once you go past that number there will be a surcharge per name.
Do I think it will stop SPAM? Probably not but anything that slows these people down is good in my opinion.
They need a national/worldwide do not email database like they do with phone numbers. O0
thanks homer :) for all your help and info :) spg.gif

I so agree with you there....I don't open anything from anyone that I don't know...I block sender and bounce it back. Its terrible how bad spam has gotten and what it can do to you...I also saw on a news program where people can go online with your cell phone number and buy your cell phone records and see who you call and who calls you...My state is in the process of taking this to court to change to law.

Here's another way to fight the SPAM battle:
http://www.spamcop.net/
The way it works is that once you register, you get assigned an email address to forward spam to. Once you forward it to SpamCop, they process reports to send out to the ISP, mail & web hosts of the SPAMmers. After a few minutes, they send you a notification that the SPAM is ready to process. All you do then is go back to their site and click on the link to submit SPAM.
It sounds like a tedious process (and it is). However, after a couple of weeks of perseverance, I've managed to eliminate 99% of the SPAM I was getting in my account. Plus, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling everytime I know that one of those b******s got the boot >:D
Wow thanks alot for that information...I will check it out myself
wow thanks for the info i never open anything from ppl i dont know

Right on ClingFree...
...and it is legal to check your spouse's credit report....BUT not your "potential" spouse as you suggested Kathy...
loooooong story and i won't go into it but there is someone out there who has my ss# and is still using it for employment purposes.. i dont know this person and the state police in both states know and there is nothing they can do because they are not harming my credit. Fl police have done nothing to this day.. since 97. tried to get new SS# but since he's not harming my credit i cna't get one. guy is an ex con for burglary and something else.. and switched 2 number there for matching mine of all people.. lol. he is employed with a trucking co. in fl. that's all i know. it sucks.
but i dont know how i'd feel about checking my husbands credit before i marry him. i think that's really kinda not my business.. but once we're married his affects mine and vise verrsa. whatever u spell it. i dont think it's ANY RENTAL LANDLORDS business either what my credit score is to rent me an apartment.. i WONT AND DONT give my SS out to anyone anymore unless absolutley needed. sorry.. i needed to vent the landlord thing cuz so many people think it's their business what ur credit score is for things that really dont need to know. as long as my previous landlord(s) got their rent ontime everytime what's the point huh?
ok. but that wasn't a vent on the question at hand.. it's a very good question tho.
Wow thats a trip...they know someone is using your SSN and they don't anything about it...unreal...I bet that is scarey
dont mean to alarm you but it is out there no matter what you do that get alot of ppl everyday very scary
This lady I know that is a court clerk applied for a Target credit card and she said her credit is not bad and she has other cards...they sent a denial letter back saying she cant have one because shes deceased...when u mess with the credit companies theres no phone calls..everythings done in writing...it took over a year to get it straigtned out...I asked her if she didnt file income taxes could she use the excuse shes deceased and if they dont believe her call the credit bureau :))
You can file disputes online now. O0
It is bad with SSN's and all...and like I posted earlier...This is kinda my job...I collect the info and it goes to the credit bureau....Pretty soon liens and judgements won't be allowed to have your SSN on them which I love because it less stuff I have to type... ;D
