Title: Some pogo news i heard in game rooms *RUMORS till someone can confirm*
Post by: slidecage2222 on March 06, 2006, 11:07:10 AM
i was playing  ride the tide   Late saturday night and there was a person talking about all the new stuff pogo has coming... take all this info as  RUMORS as for now

Pogo pets  will be out in  april or May

bigger news

the next game to come out will be   Casino island poker  (not bowling)   this game should come out in early april

there will be another  album badge book   In either  late april or Early  May

Shuffle bump should be out  Tuesday  (there was really no reason it didnt come out last week, but pogo wanted to make sure they had the spades ranks fixxed  and wanted that game out  so they just pushed  BUMP back a week)

and the biggest news  was

BOWLING should be out  this summer     at the same time  POGO  pushes out their leagues  with bowling being their first league

bowling league   get it.. pogo is going to try to tie both of these items into each other and hope to have both out by  JULY   but probally  Sooner

they also said  that starting this week pogo will start to send out massive emails to the case league owners about  pogo blocking  their leauges on pogo

the next thing another person said in the chat room as  a question  but the dude never said anything  SO i say its not real

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pogo is looking at something called the

POGO INSIDER

you will get a superbadge  (think spike dressed up like a ninja)
you will get new info on games, leagues and new items pogo has in the works before anyone else
You will get to play  the new games  (1-2 weeks early)  before anyone else
You will get an extra  personal challenge every week
and something about a   5 buck off coupon to  pogo to go games ????  (every 6 month or  1 per year)

all  for  yearly price of   49.95
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

someone also said their heard pogo was  talking  about going into a  3  place plan

Basic - would be free like now
Gold --- would what we have now
Diamond or plat---  what would  included extra stuff noone knows about

but they heard the  price of  49.95 per year on the   Diamond club
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

be intersting to see how much of this is true... i would think the   bowling would be a smart idea ... i mean what better way to push leagues  then have  a  bowling  leauge

Well i was just wondering if anyone else heard people talking about this stuff in chat

AGAIN TAKE ALL OF THIS AS  PURE  RUMOR

Holy crap. I'm going to be the 1st to say I'm not going to pay $50 for a flippin' newsletter and $50 to play games 2 weeks before everyone else...

.... now I'm going to say I need to save up $100 in case something important happens!

If the part about paying $50.00 to be a diamond member is true than pogo is getting greedy. I wouldn't want to pay $50.00 for that either. Guess we'll have to wait and see how much of this is really true.

Pogo is already greedy.

I would never pay 50.00 to them, so I could play a few games 2 weeks before so. I hope that's just a rumor.

Thanks for sharing all this, SlideCage :)

I will pay if it is NOT $50 on top of what I pay now, but a total of $50 for the games early and a newsletter

I think tons of people will pay the 50 bux...even the ones saying they won't.  Look at all the people that said they'd never pay for badges...now they buy em, finish em in a day, then complain till the next ones come out

All these rumors and things about Pogo putting prices on stuff.. first we pay extra for premium albums, then's there's rumors about some items for the minis to be individually priced, and all of the things listed in the first post here... Pogo must think they sense that people will pay whatever Pogo tells them to for whatever Pogo decides to slap a price on. Pretty soon, there will be a price to have an unlimited friends list, a price for unlimited usage of the message system, if you even want to look at another player's profile- that'll cost ya.. and if ya have a question or problem for the help section, there will be a price to have it answered immediately by a real person without a form letter. And this year may be safe, but you can bet eventually, even the weekly challenges won't be part of the yearly price anymore, they will be priced seperately too. If Pogo continues down this road, by the year 2008, you'll be paying about $150 a year to do everything you can now for what you're paying now, with a few new extra things thrown in.. and there will be a few dummies who will actually pay for everything they possibly can, but I would hope the majority would have a little sense and willpower and 'just say no' to Pogo and their gouging, and have them end up actually losing a bunch of members cuz they are sick of them going crazy with the pricegun. I admit I bought all of the first 3 premium albums.. it was a new thing, I wanted to try them all out.. that was what, approx. $15 total? On top of the $30 yearly price, bumps that up to $45 right there. Now I haven't bought the most recent premium cuz for one, I didn't like a lot of the games on it, and second, I didn't wanna get sucked in every time they throw a new album out. Ya might say it's only $6.. but if they release a new one, say every 3 months, that's an extra $24 a year (almost doubling the normal price right there). Let's include the first 3 premiums from the end of last year, say they add 4 new ones this year, plus the $30 subscription price (for anyone non-AOL).. someone could pay $69 for a year of Pogo this year.. not including if they come out with the pay mini items and all of this other stuff from this post and have people add some of that crap on to it as well, that will jack it up even more. For some, Pogo may be their life, they may do nothing else but that.. but that does not mean it's worth whatever Pogo decides they wanna take from you. You may need food to live, but do ya wanna pay $15 for a can of soup, or $12 for a loaf of bread? Things do need a limit.

Sorry for the long ranting post.. but when it starts to flow, it's hard to stop!

You know what RC....I agree with all that you said. And, if Pogo does come here and read the posts.....if more people would just say NO.....maybe they'd think twice before trying to gouge us for more money on top of what we already pay.

RC, I agree with you 100%.  It's a very common marketing schema:

The folks at EA are smart enough not to throw everything out all at once.  They start off slow, introduce a new concept every year or two.  If the influx of money is there, they'll continue.  Once the majority of ppl say "enough is enough," they'll stop.  Until then, why should they?

DJ_SI.....

You are right on key.  It is all about marketing.... Pogo is fast turning into ebay...........  (I hope that was not against the rules here for putting in that plug for them?)  Does anyone remember back when they first got started? (ebay that is)    Who would have thought they would be charging the prices they are now? Look at all the changes that they (ebay) made, then up-ed the prices at each and every change. They started out slow, then seen that the people was still going to use their site and pay the extra prices so they added more and the prices went up more....  No different than what Pogo is trying right now.  Pogo now knows that people will pay for the premium badges so why not try to get money for something else?   I am sorry to say, but if I owned ea sports, I would be testing the waters too. I can remember when people was buying their membership in pogo and I thought they were stupid!.  :D      No way I was going to pay for something that I can get for free. lol. I started to buy my first premium book this month, however I now have some hospital bills that comes first. But I will be getting them when I can. (Never say never, right?)  O0      spb.gif

Nanners, the problem that you are having is the same problem that I am having, you are having troubles buying the right "auto" parts or programs or every what you want to call them lol.....     Look at your little play car.  I know where all your pennies are going.   >:D  But what can I say?  race season is here.  Get that car ready with the right auto program/parts lol   Pogo will be here next winter  B.T.Y. good luck this season, I wish you nothing but great lights, record times and no break downs.....

Well Said RC!!!! I totally agree with everything you said.

I will not pay 50.00. I'm paying 29.99. For 20.00 more, they would have to give me something really good. I like pogo just like everyone else, but I'm not that addicted............

I heard others talk about this in a few rooms over the past day and     that  50 buck thing is people might be getting that confused with  case ladders   _ that is where  gold. diamond  ect names came from

personally with shuffle  being pushed back another week  I think pogo has too many problems in  just getting the games out themself  to really add  new features to the line up....  Just think how much code they would have to  put in  to get  those new accounts up and running...

its starting to look to me must of this info was wrong   since im reading on other pages that   BOWLING will be the next game  to be release and its coming in   April  and   it has no tie ins with leagues......  one place i read  even states that  Pogo has no intent to even make leagues and it was just a major RUMOR     and  CASE  leagues will stay on pogo ...................  Though  i did hear  that  Pogo  wants to tie  most of the new stuff   Before pogo  Turns  3 (what would be  around  July 2006--- that is why in the first post the person said   Leauge play would start in  july   i guess to tie in with Pogo turning  3

I asked a few of my  ladder owners  and all of them said    they have not heard one thing  from  Pogo or Case about  being kicked off  pogo  and  they dont not think its going to happen

i still think pogo has to be working on something  with the  Lack of new games coming out where  is all their focus going to

with shuffle bump  now    3 weeks late you got to wonder  what is up with pogo

From a player's perspective, I wish Pogo would come out with a new game each month!  Even if it meant "retiring" existing games as new ones were released.

However, I realize from a tech position that it's not feasible.  With the job cuts EA made, personnel were either shifted to other departments or (more likely) assigned multiple duties.  Add to that all the issues they've been experiencing, it's only natural that they'll want to be cautious, rather than add to their problems.

Lastly, from a business standpoint, why?  Love it or hate it (which I really do on occasion), there's no one that can compare to what Pogo has to offer.  Ppl will still pay and play.  In the end, all that means to us is that they can procede at their own speed.  We'll get together and complain, but until they feel the pressure, there's no reason for them to bend-over-backwards.

I may pay additional cost for the privilege of keeping my pogo account and getting badges but I'll be damned if pogo will see as much as one additional penny from me!  I have 4 accounts now. I will just eliminate accounts as they become more expensive. If I eliminate both of them pogo will actually get less of my money than they do now! I'm tired of being taken advantage of! >:(

RC, excellent post!  Very well stated!   O0

I'm really hoping all of this is just a bunch of rumours.  The "Pogo Insider" thing is a total waste of money in my opinion.  This Insider thing isn't really giving that much extra that we can't already get on the Internet and boards like this one.  I love playing on Pogo as much as everyone else but I honestly think they're going too far here.  Getting to play a game a couple of weeks early isn't that big of a perk, I think.

I'll admit I've bought all four of the badge books and I have two accounts that I pay for.  With all the medical bills I've got (both for me and those of my grandmother), household bills and now one less income in the family thanks to layoffs I'll be doing good to keep my accounts going.

I've got an extremely hectic life and Pogo is my way of relaxing.  I love getting the badges and playing the games.  It takes my mind off my worries and helps take the stress away.  If this is all true, it's kind of sad to see my favorite site declining in such a way.   :(

interesting  thing last night.....  i was in one of my spades ladders  and the   owner of that ladder said the entire     POGO leagues is   fake...  that pogo and case  has an understanding   (contract) that allows   case  to run their touraments on pogo web.... this is why  a few years ago     pogo was   linking to   Cases ladders  (this is how i found my ladders cause pogo  had links to them in  HOW TO PLAY)

they owner said if pogo  even attempted to  block  case  ladders  to play on pogo that  case would sue pogo

maybe that is why there is lack of  new stuff coming out .... pogo is  too buzy trying to clean up its messes and trying to get out of this contract???

IF there is an actual contract, EA/Pogo isn't going to be stupid enough to break it.  They'll wait it out until the contract expires.  Now, if there was no contract, and it was just a mutual agreement (nothing legally binding), Pogo can give 'em the boot whenever they want to.

Ladder explanation ... In Pogo, there are tournaments .. the tournaments are run by Case's - Each league has their own "ladder" for their members.

Now, I haven't been a member of Pogo for THAT long (almost 2 years) however, it seems to me that more new games came out this past year than in the year before.

And tourneys or ladders or whatever they're called annoy me.

yes I'm a pogo junkie however I never play in those ladders/leagues becuase I don't have the time to sit down and play a whole game with a league.  And when they take over a room, I hate it but at the same time like it becuase I can hide my auto use better

Lol those leagues are run like some sort of fascist regime.  Not naming anyone or any league in particular, just an observation.  "No talking to non-league players during games or you'll be disqualified" or "Mute all non-league players or you'll be disqualified" or "BLAH BLAH BLAH I ONLY KNOW HOW TO TYPE IN CAPS" or commandeering the whole room...  I've actually had tournament hosts (there's an oxymoron for you) try to bully people into leaving the room.  If I'm correct, can't you private chat with multiple people at the same time?  I wouldn't mind seeing that as a stipulation for running tournies, that way the rest of the room can continue in peace.

That is SO FREAKIN' TRUE!  During Tournies, especially if it's one of those Nazi tourney hosts from hell?  I'll chat as much as I possibly can.  Bring up topics that you KNOW will get others going, and use a LOT OF CAPS!   :)) :)) :))  Just to pizz'em off.  But, usually, I just leave.

just to clarify, only the league host types in caps, so that the players can easily distinguish the pairings/rules in a chat lobby. weather you are a pogo free member, paid member, host, or league member, the same standard applies: the room is open to anyone an everyone.
Not everyone will get along on pogo, but i would assume "a host typing in caps" so league members get the info for the tour, should be the least of everyones worries. I am a host myself, and no i am not the devil, i dont type the rules in caps to purpously annoy you, an i dont kick anyone out of a room. And the minute rules are over, i Cap down, an use undercaps, so as not to abuse the caps.  I feel leagues get a bad rep. , and if pogo does come out with their own leagues in bowling, id like to see posts like above, directed to pogo employees when they host in caps. lastly, dont knock it till ya try it lol=leagues can be a heck of alot of fun;) <3

Pink ...

I think, from the sounds of it, you are one of the better hosts. Ive also hosted, but we wont go there =)  I have seen ALOT of hosts abuse what "power" they think they have, and unfortunately they give most hosts a bad name.

Ok, those leagues that try to push people out of the rooms are complete (censored by SaintHippo but there are a lot of words here). The league I'm in don't mind if you talk to other non-members, we don't kick people out the room (the room is more than big enough for both the league and non-leaguers), we don't control the chat (we only speak when we need to talk with other leaguers) and we don't have private chat available in the game I play in so we can't use that option. The people who come into our room has NEVER had a problem with our league since we don't cause problems. We're as friendly as they come and if there was an award for the least complainted about league, we would win it every time. Just know that while you might have had a bad experience with a few leagues, not all are like that and that's all I have to say about that!

Pink,

For the most part, the Tourney's and their hosts aren't bad.  I've gotten the a whole league going before, tourney host included, laughing so hard that the game could barely be played, so I can't say all experiences were bad.  And you're right, it is the few Nazi hosts out there giving you guys a bad name.

Now, as for leagues?  I have tried them, and they're just not for me.  And they are annoying when you're trying to chat with your friends, but like I said, I either just go to another room or take all my friends to private.

You're little dude (or dudette) never did GO anywhere, did it?  Now, every time I watch it, I kinda bob.. up and down like.  Like the dude (or dudette) is when it walks like an Egyptian.  It should say "ancient Egyptian" since most Egyptians that look like that are, um, dead.   Why am I so obsessed with your picture thingie???  :o

Allow me to apologize, I didn't mean to bash all leagues, just those that are run by the Gestapo.  I've been in many rooms with good leagues.  It's the ones run by the tournie Nazis that set me off.  Phlinx is notorious for those.

Ok, I've named it. Hope you guys are happy. However, since you're reading this now, that means you didn't get a chance to see where she's finally walked to. Guess you have to start all over again.

It's PICKLES not pickler!!! So it would have to be "Stickler"  I say we call it Gump.  Didn't Forrest do that for no particular reason?

LMAO....Hillary...Lindsey...Nicole Ritchie...hell  there all the same...Ok I just have one more question to ask about "Hillary"  has anyone actually slid the little arrow all the way over to see if you could see where "Hillary" was going and if there was a end...and while you slid the arrow over did you try to hold your mouse there with alot of pressure in hopes you would break the barrier to where "Hillary " might be headed? Did you try to make the arrow go over further than it really would...  ee4.gif  Lock me up ....bring the straps...white coats and all....I tried it! I tried it !

Ohhh good gawd...could I trade this job for whats behind door #1 please !!   ee2.1.gif  and for as far as the egg dropping...could you please just throw it and make it splatter all over the screen !!!!!!!!!
