Some of  you may have noticed that I have been missing for a few weeks. I have been so busy with my family and today I just feel the need to vent. My mom was diagnosed with small cell  lung cancer in Jan. 2005 and given 2 weeks to 6 months to live. Mom is a tough old gal though, she went through radiation and the lung cancer went into remission. Then she found she had brain cancer so she had Gamma Knife Radiation to remove the brain tumor and, although weakened by the cancers, she still hung in there. A month ago while out with my daughter my mom had a grand mal seizure and was taken to the emergency room. They found things too numerous to mention here, some were repaired, others could not be. She did receive surgery to her neck and spine to repair many broken bones and disks (she now wears a neck brace) and they discovered two brain tumors, One the size of a golf ball, the other about half that size. Tuesday of last week Mom underwent a 7 hour surgery to have the tumors removed. The Neurosurgeon says that he got all of the cancer but mom is not yet strong enough to speak. The doctors keep reminding us that she is on borrowed time but I think my mom has a different perspective than they have.

I also have a daughter who has been serving in the military for more than six years now. she has been in more than one war zone (Kosovo, Afghanistan and a year in Iraq) Although her being in harms way scared the living crap out of me she is again in imminent danger. While I have been at my mothers side trying to cope with her Brain tumors, my daughter was dignosed with Cushings disease, which means besides all of the very nasty side affects of that disease she is now having many tests run and within the month will also have to have surgery to remove a brain tumor. My daughter is only 27 years old and has been through so much already. I am torn between packing  and going to Hawaii to be with my daughter (that is where she is currently stationed) and staying home to be with my Mom when she dies (which is what we THINK will happen). My daughter tells me to stay here to be with "Grandma" but the risk of blindness or fatality are possibilities with my daughters' surgery.  Also she will need someone to take care of her while she recovers after her surgery.

Meanwhile, I am completely ignoring my other daughter who will face the first anniversary of her daughters death next week alone because I am so caught up in other family matters. I keep praying for guidance, but so far I still don't know what to do....

Oh wow .. You do INDEED have my prayers and much love I'm glad you came here to 'vent'..We all need that once in awhile.. Please please be strong for your family..Such a lot you have going on there..I wish there is some way I could help you..but I'll just think and pray for you and your family.. oh my goodness.. i am almost in tears reading this...i just want to give you a hug. i wish i had some words of wisdom to tell you. the only thing i can say is that i will pray for you and all of your family in this time of need. Everyone has their problems, all of which seem horrible at the time. it takes just one moment to make us realize how greatful we all should be of the life we are given. ((((hug)))  <3 <3 :-*

Prayers you have. I would like to suggest that you box everything up and ask God to take it and guide you through this.  My name isnt Spiritwarrior just because I like it. I have  very deep faith and have asked him to take many things.  Let your inner voice guide you.  As a side here I have always had a vision that when I pass God is going to be standing with all the things I asked him to hold. He's tosses them too me and says These are yours maybe now you can understand.  Hang in there and I will pray for your guidance through all of this.  Just remeber when your back is to the wall make a door   <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I was reading this offline and felt so compelled to let you know my prayers and thoughts are with you. I don't post often here, but, your post touched my heart.

I've also been going through some health problems with my family but, I see now, they are nothing compared to yours. Please, keep your faith and let God (or your higher spirit) lead you. I can't even imagine the pain you must be going through now. However, I do know God answers our prayers, if we have the faith to believe...and yes, miracles can happen.

Know that you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and I pray everything will work out for the "best" whatever that may be.

Please keep us informed, when possible, for I will be checking back.

TY Spirit, What, Tiger, Tara and Gecko for your warm wishes and prayers. I will keep everyone posted as to how things are progressing. I thank all of you for just being here and hearing me out. You may not believe this but I think my God has already began to help me through my post to this forum. I was so overwhelmed when I posted that I didn't even know what to pray for. I can now see that I have 3 separate and distinct problems that I need His help with. That is a huge step in the right direction. I'm sure that He will continue to carry me through to the end of this journey. I feel so lucky to have you folks of this forum to help encourage me to put one foot in front of the other when I need need it. Thank you again. You are all wonderful.  Ginger

Pogoslave.  I am so very sorry that you are going through all of this right now.  I am waiting on surgery on my back again, (this will be number three for me) and I will tell you this, the doctors told my family back in 1988 that I had maybe 3 hours to live a few times times..... That was 18 years ago and I am still here..... I have a broke back and my lungs are not working very good is the reason for my upcoming surgery. BUT, I will tell you this. Keep praying and please know that I will be praying for you and your family. Please keep us up to date on how your mother is doing.   <3

Just got caught up on some posts and PogoSlave You and your Mom and daughters are all in my prayers....I pray God sends a message to you and guides you thru this.....I know he will because everything is part of his plan...You sound like a very strong person and I am thinking you raised some strong daughters too...Keep the faith and God Bless....Keep us posted!!

TY Zeboo and Treefrog. There is not a lot of progress to report but my Mom is feeling stronger and is getting up for a little while each day now and sitting in "her " chair in the living room to entertain her visitors. She is still weak but is feeding herself and walks herself from the bedroom to the livingroom and back. We are try to talk her into moving into my brothers house because she really can't live on her own. She hasn't agreed yet but we're hoping to change her mind in the next few weeks. The doctors don't think she'll last that long but Mom thinks otherwise...I'm betting on Mom. Thank you all again for you prayers and words of encouragement. I will continue to keep you posted.   Ginger

wow! this made me stop n think of how my own probs are soo piddly compared to some but thats not why i writing this post i want to tell pogo slave you are in my prayers i have faith your mom will pull through this just hang in there

i am not a person of prayer, however, i will keep good thoughts for you, if that means anything.

TY Shady Pugsly and Krispy. I haven't been on in the past couple of days because in trying to keep up with all that is going on with my family I forgot to take care of myself. I am a severe diabetic with blood sugars that normally run in the mid 300's. I take 5 shots of insulin a day in hopes of getting my diabetes under control. I seem to have forgotten to feed myself the past few weeks with taking care of Mom and worrying about my daughters. I found myself in the hospital for a couple days because my sugar had gotten so low it caused me to pass out in the grocery store. Thank God I wasn't driving! I came home today, to find that my favorite Aunt had a stroke last night and died this morning. I don't normally air my family problems outside of the family but lately they have become so overwhelming that I feel if I don's speak them or post them my head will surely burst. Since my family is in as much pain as I am right now I need to vent here. I am so very sad.... Thank you all for being here and for your prayers. Ginger

please i know its very very hard  but try to look after yourself as well  otherwise you will be no help to anyone  you'll end up another problem  and you know you don't need that   my love prayers and heart goes out to you and your family

ginger: having been through some pretty tough times also, it is important you grab the strongest person you know to confide in, whomever, wherever they may be. when i was in the middle of my treatments for cancer (it was a last option for me) my b/f stuck with me whenever i felt overwhelmed. i held on like there was no tomorrow. as a result, i am much stronger inside and we have a powerful relationship. the good news is remission is mine!!! and all the times i needed someone to talk to, he was there. find your rock. it will keep you safe, no matter what the outcome.

I am so very glad to hear this about your Mother. BUT...... PLEASE be sure and take care of your self as well.  Thank God that you are doing better tho? I hope so anyways. TY KS Art and Night person. My mom is still very weak but continues to insist that she will get better. My eldest daughter remains inconsolable as she grieves for the little girl that she had for such a short time. We buried my Aunt yesterday, (she's in a crypt near Patsy Cline). And, my youngest daughters brain surgery was finally scheduled yesterday for June 16,2006. Although I am hesitant to leave my Mom now, my daughter will need someone to take care of her after her surgery for a month. I purchased Plane tickets today to be with her for six weeks. I pray that she will make it through her surgery with no complications and that my mom will be waiting here for me when I return.

You know you have lots of friends here..being a diabetic also I can relate to what your going through. I only take 2 shots a day. It sure isn't easy,, so hang in there..we're all here for you..

I hope your daughter's surgery goes well and that your mom will be waiting for you when you return. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of your aunt. I know it can be overwelming with everything that's going on at once, but you do need to take care of yourself. Just keep hanging in there and think positive.
