Looking for a good recipe that i don't need a slushie (spelling?) machine. My kids love them and figure it will be a good summer time treat.

LOL sure it is they will sleep like rocks ! :)) oops sorry than that is my only slush recipe !
Do you have a blender or a food processor? Target here, carries slush syrups. Just shave your ice and poor some syrup on it. Don't use carbonated drinks if you do a home thing like this, its nasty.
We used to make ... in the blender ... Ice crunched up ... a few strawberries .. a few banana slices .... some orange juice - Okay wait thats a smoothie not a slurpee .. N/m Sorry.
Fill your blender with 10 oz. of ice. Add 4 oz. of syrup (more or less, to suit your taste) and 2 oz of water. the water helps crush the ice. blend till smooth. You may have to remove the container and shake it once or twice during the blending so the ice drops to the bottom and gets thoroughly crushed. Makes approximately 12 oz.
Or
1 sm. Jello
Crushed ice
Add fruit if you want to.
Mix Jello with 1/4 cup hot water and dissolve. Put all ingredients into blender and mix until completely dissolved. Yield: 4 servings
I like your recipe crazy, may have to try it for my wedding shower. as a kid i never really like slushies. i liked the taste of the coloring and after i sucked it out i was left with ice. Then I wasn't happy
tyvm everyone. There are all great ideas. I will try the homemade and the syrup ones!

Kool-Aid Slushy
1 envelope unsweetened Kool-Aid
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
7 cups milk
Dissolve soft drink mix and sugar completely in water. Stir into milk in nonmetal pitcher. Serve at once or chill and stir before serving (or beat with rotary beater until blended and foamy, about 1 minute and serve at once).

that sounds pretty tasty.
they are not bad actually
when I was younger this one below was a favorite
Strawberry Slush
Mix and set aside:
4 1/2 cups boiling water
2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry Jell-O
Boil together:
1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups water
Add:
3 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries
1 (46 ounce) can unsweetened pineapple juice
1 (16 ounce) can frozen lemonade
Add 3 cups vodka. Freeze. Makes a little over an ice cream pail.
make sure you stir it every 90 minutes or so as it helps to make it slushy
To serve, scoop into glass and add Sprite.

My ma used to make something like that, but with gin. Slow gin maybe? I dont know .. not a big drinker so dont laugh at me, but I'll see if I can find the recipe - it came out bright red and was great by the spoonful, of course I could only take a spoonful because I was young enough that she woulda kicked my azz if she caught me in it.
that sounds tasty. :P
that sounds so familiar.. and it was always in the freezer in a big tupperware bowl and we kids would sneak in and grab a spoonful too now and then..it seems all the moms in our neighborhood had a bowl in the big freezer in the basements...lol...
