Yeah I'm back with more stuff to point out. I was listening to my radio and they mentioned this site called "PrivatePhone". I went to check it out and you can get a FREE private telephone number for any area you want. I thought I would sign up before sharing it with y'all and got myself a few telephone number for the New York area (area code 347) even though I live on the West Coast. Nothing I had to pay for, it's really a free voice mail but can you think how cool it would be to give out that number to bill collectors instead of your real number. They can call as many times as they want and you won't be bothered. Or better yet, if Homer had a number and we can finally call him and bug him anytime we want. He can check his voice mails from the computer so all those angry messages won't require him to pick up a phone to listen to 'em. How about BadgeHelp.com getting a number and using that for tech support. I'm sure they will get many many many phone calls whenever Pogo does an update but it will at least be another way to contact them.

It's associated with NetZero but that's the only drawback I can see to it. If you want to leave me a message just for the heck of it, my new free number is (347) 274-8175. No you won't hear my voice because I haven't recorded my greeting yet but do y'all really want to know what The Hippo sounds like? I didn't think so, lol. So go sign up!

just pick any state and it will do the rest and the town you want to be from in that state and it will give you the # and then send you a pin # this is so neat

Trini.. I dialed your number and I cant get it to work for your number.... I dialed it w/out the 1........... and I dialed it with the 1...... ( I dont have long distant feature on my phone)... I use cell phone for long distance.... But Hippo said it should work regardless :(

Hmmm, have you tried using firefox while checking your messages? I use the phone because I can't hear them too well over my computer speakers.

Ok, I'm getting a lot of messages but y'all ain't tell me who is who. I have never heard y'all before so guess would be insane unless I get a clue (like someone charging me).

BTW: I believe there is only a 10 message limit on what you can save in the voice box (after all, it is free) so if you want to save messages, I suggest downloading them onto your computer.

When you first sign up, they assign you a pin number. You have to log into the site and change it manually.

I viewed my log, jus now, and Netzero... I dont see the lil lock icon at the bottom of the page...so I dont see how its protectin ppl phone number on the web...

Yes it just covers the number itself. It's suppose to be used as a voicemail box you give out to people you don't want to directly have your number. Kinda like bill collectors, people you meet at a club or whomever.

I know Tara had a question about it and I called and checked: the only fees that will occur from calling one of these numbers will be a regular fee that your phone provider place on you. Meaning if you don't normally have a long distance plan and you're calling someone with a New York area code (but you live in Montana), then you're going to get charged. If you have a nationwide plan where there is no such thing as long distance for you... then you're safe. Hope I explained that right... probably not but there is no special charge for dailing one of these numbers.

I added anyone with a private number to my cell if that's alright with you. I couldn't get a private number because my state wasn't listed - IA - or else I would've made one and posted it... so I'm stuck with my cell number... and I'm also kind of limited on minutes, so I have to wait to call. O0
