Skipping the first play is a tactic to keep from getting stuck without any playable cards.
You will always be able to play that card the next time through the deck.
If you skip the 1st playable card until no other cards are playable, you can go back, play that card, and alter which cards appear on the next pass through the deck--possibly exposing more playable cards.
There is a known bug in WCSolo where, if the card underneath the first playable card is also playable, it does not play it when it goes back to play the first card, and it needs to because the card is buried on the next pass.
I made the tactic optional because some people get anxious when they see the auto skipping the first play.
