Title: riddle stumper

Was playing a game earlier and had a riddle that has still riddled me and bugs me till i find an answer. I DO NOT know the answer but i know 2 heads are better than one so i need help.

The riddle is:

I am a soft as a petal failing from a tree, as a I get drier, the wetter I get. what am I ?

i have tried a few things, but let me hav'em and ill try the ones i have  NOT tried.
