Does anyone have any experience with flushable cat litters? (https://www.getsmile.com/smilies/%5Ecad/cat8.gif)
I'm thinking of switching from Tidy Cats Scoopable to either Swheat Scoop or World's Best Litter
I know they are more expensive but it is more convenient to flush plus I think it would be healthier for both cat and human.
Nope, but I don't think any smelly etc litter is good for humans :))) You might inquire with your utility or septic dealer about it, wouldn't want a back up! lol
I have 5 cats but have never tried flushable litter because of my concerns about backups. Course out of the 5 only 1 uses a litter box. All the others go outside.

Lucky you. The flushables are made out of wheat and corn. I don't think they would cause sewer problems now the others I could see doing that.

Some products absorb the liquids and swell. If you're dumping large quantities of litter, might it swell up in all that water and then cause a problem?

Maybe if your flushing large quantities at once but I wouldn't think small quantities would affect it. The clumps would already have been expanded by virtue of the urine and from what I have read the clumps fall apart as more liquid is introduced via flushing

It is pretty funny . I had heard a long time ago that someone trained their cat to use the toilet. Now that would be something to see. Only my lunatic cat uses the litter box. And that kitty needs prozac in a big way. But with a name like Kitty Poo what did I expect

There are videos of this on youtube. I was gonna post one but it is a bit gross watching a cat drop a deuce in the toilet.

I've considered it but I don't want to spend a lot of money only to find out the cat won't use it.

my old cat toilet trained himself. My husband thought he left the faucet on, peeked in , and cat was squatin on toilet going pee. I saw him do it a few times,..he liked the shower drain too hahaha. As for the litter, i know my 2 boys are picky, the worst is them crystals..they like lil bb gun blue pellots, an minute cat jumps outta box, they go rolling everythwere and are slippery. I never heard of no corn an wheat litter, but id imagion since theres corn an wheat in their crunchies..they wouldnt wanna crap in their food, or something that smells like food. let me know, if you end up trying it for them, how they took it.

As for those pellets that go flying I got a mat that sits in front of the litter box and it traps all those pesky rouge pellets. It is a litter mat. And might I say only on this forum could you have such a interesting conversation bout kitty litter and kitties toilet habits . We are all so intellectual

We use Swheat but I don't flush it, once a year I dig a hole in the back woods and dump it there, oh and I fill in the old hole.

How happy are you with the product?
My wife is happier with the product than with clay litters. As for me, Ieither way I haul it off to the hole in the woods,

Interesting...so I googled "flushable litter". Here is a comment from one of the sites.
"Municipal sewage treatment plants traditionally treat sewage to kill harmful bacteria, remove the waste solids, and pump the resultant "safe" effluent directly into a freshwater source that eventually drains into ocean bays. Unfortunately present means of sewage treatment do not kill the T. Gondii parasite, which is carried in cat feces, among other sources. My wife said this about Swheat: It really dires hard so if you don't get to it every day, like when you go away for the weekend, it sticks to the box and will break a plastic scoop.
I found some good metal scoops in the kitchen isle at Wally World.
I use a spoon from the kitchen aisle too. It has small round holes in it that are just right for the scoopable stuff. O0

i still say buy the cat toilett who knows they might like it train them right remember the movie meet the parents jinx used the toilett lmao and the you tube video its possible just have to be patient O0
I tried the Arm & Hammer flushable. It backed up all over the bathroom. Hubby threatened to inilate me if I didn't go back to Tidy Cat....no more flushing :-\
I think I might try Worlds Best Litter sometime next week.
I was looking through my sample sites.. and i came across that, was going to post it for you, but then decided not to.
But on page i seen, it was.. a month of that litter.
if i come across link again, will post it. can compare between the online discount and in store. think was 4.95 shipping, a months supply of it.

Thanks for the link but I'm not interested in subscribing just for a free sample. I'll get it from Petsmart. Now if you could find me somewhere to buy Tender Vittles my cat would love you. They discontinued it in the US and I haven't found anywhere to purchase it online. They still sell it in Canada from what I understand.
