Title: warning
Post by: jetstar on June 02, 2008, 02:55:02 PM
found out today if you buy cheats, and its buy 1 get 1 free, if your computer crashes they will NOT replace free codes even though you have the receipt and at the bottom of receipt it says which program you want for free, they will not replace it, i think that is bull and i bought 2 that day and got 2 free ones but im up the creek now >:((

thats proably the problem, im not a 150 member, but i do have 18 cheats, which is 180.00 but i dont think that makes a difference to them, dont think they will get any more money from me if that is how they gonna treat me, since i do have my receipts

The way I understand it, is that free auto's are just that free, whether they be on buy 1 get 1 free or you win it.  Therefore I can understand that no maintenance is given to that auto ie a replacement code.

Same with your 150 page, this is only reset 5 times (if needed) - I understand it is to cut down on fraud with the auto's ie registering your auto's asking for a page reset and giving them to a friend etc etc.

Yup a paid auto is supposed to be yours for life but I suppose a limit has to be drawn under it at some point otherwise the system would be abused.  But free auto's are a gift.  If you buy something in a shop and get a free gift with it and it breaks, I don't think anyone would expect the free gift to be replaced.

I'm not saying any of it is right or wrong, just expressing what I understand of the situation

That is precisely BH's point.

Then say that up front. I thought all autos had free lifetime updates?  There was no restriction that I see anywhere on bh site.

Is that the same circumstance for the auto's that Homer gives away??

Yes, it is the same circumstance.

Anything you have BOUGHT can be replaced. Anything that is FREE cannot.

That would be like going to a yard sale and taking a shirt someone gave you for free, then showing up 3 months later to the persons house and telling them you lost the free shirt and want another one.

Huh?!?!

Yeah, we state that on every contest post.

6. Any program won via contests are not eligible for replacement codes.

So in other words...trading 3 of my autos for a #3 at McDonalds won't work either?  :,

Nope, but a #3 at McDonalds will eventually lead to a #2  :)))

Huh?!?!

But s/he didn't lose it, they have the reciept that you require.  This is not a garage sale. BH is a california based company that is selling a service.  When you buy a program and get one free you are getting 2 programs for a certain price.  Again you should state on those purchase that the free program has limits, at this time it does not. Why would anyone ever think that there is some sort of limits to a sale you have going on.  Buy one get one free.  Does not say "buy one get one free * if the free auto breaks, stops working, stalls or anything else, we will not re-issue the code"

A lot of it is the wording I beleive, when I purchase something this is how I would read it:

Buy one get one free - notice the word free, ie freebie, extra, gimmick to get you to buy more ;), - no cash nor monetary value

OR

2 for 1 or  2 for the price of 1 - notice no mention of the word free or extra, this then would mean, you in actual fact are paying half price for two auto's - the auto's now have monetary value and as such have guarantees on their 'fit for use' and BH by their T&C would upgrade/replace etc etc.

I agree with this statement  and what Runner says   A sale is a sale.     Now if you won an auto  thats a completely different thing  I think.  what would be the point of getting the sale if down the road the sale item was no longer good?
