Title: ZIPEAKS 1.6
Post by: Joe C on January 13, 2009, 09:56:33 AM
There is a new MIX AND MATCH badge available for purchase in Tri-Peaks Solitaire. It is called SPIRAL SERPENT and requires the player to hit the 3X multiplier 22 times. ZIPEAKS 1.6 is completely inadequate for this badge and has tremendously poor game play. Unlike RUBY QUEST 1.0, which has reasonable game intelligence and wins about 70% of the time, ZIPEAKS 1.6 makes incorrect moves that sabotage streaks and wins about 25% of the time.

Older versions of ZIPEAKS, such as the version I used to get to rank 30 way back when, had a winning percentage around 70% and dominated the game. ZIPEAKS has not been updated since 3/31/08, during which time Pogo extended the ranks. I stopped trying to rank out in this game (to rank 100) because while ZIPEAKS 1.6 is very stable, it plays so poorly that it would take months of continuous play to complete from rank 30 to rank 100.

This particular issue has been raised over the past year in the BADGEHELP blogs by multiple users with no updates.

Regards

Joe C

All ZipPeaks wants to do is clear peaks, it does not play well.  It is fine if you want get a number of peaks cleared but the old zz2 works much better IMHO.

Actually, it is WORSE than that. It does not choose the card which would expose MORE cards, it often stupidly picks the card GUARANTEED to stop streaks.

Also, if it solved games at the OLD percentages, it would clear more peaks more quickly, since you clear THREE peaks to win the game.

We need something better.

you can always download ZZ2 and ask BH for a new code

Homer

I have tried ZZ2, but I do not have FireFox. I remember old-school ZIPEAKS that just dominated Tri-Peaks about two-three years ago. That was a sweet client. The current clients are very stable but have terrible game logic. Players should not be able to get ranks twice as quickly actually playing the game compared to running a client.

I use it in IE

I will try it again, but my preference would be having ZIPEAKS be as smart as RUBY QUEST. It does not seem to be a gigantic task.

I can't get zz2 to run in IE only Firefox, which is fine I prefer Firefox.  It got me that horrid Spiral Serpent MnM Badge after playing for hours.  :^*

I love ZZ2.  In my opinion, it plays smarter than ZiPeaks

Yep. That just about sums it up.  <:>

I ran it night and day for weeks on end to rank out. I was determined to get that Tarantula badge.  :-[

I think many people are missing the main point. I did not say it could not be done. I said that ZIPEAKS 1.6 plays very poorly and takes "SIGNIFICANTLY" longer to get badges like Spiral Serpent or the rank badges.

Just like everyone else, I got this badge. However, my point, to spell it out more clearly, is that this client is very stable but plays exceptionally poorly IN COMPARISON TO WHAT IT USED TO DO. Furthermore, it has been many months since Pogo has extended this game. Many people wrote in the BadgeHelp blog begging, pleading and praying for an update. Months later, here we sit.

Zip Peaks does what its names says zips through peaks, but doesn't think and loses a lot.  It takes longer to win with this auto than the older ZZ2.  ZiPeaks can be made better, considering there is another site with an auto that plays very skillfully.

Yes it is still there on ZiPeaks page, you have to scroll down to the bottom and it is listed for use in Firefox.  It does not work in IE for me, but I believe Homer says it does for him.

What it can't do but wish it could: use the Amazonian wild card by starting a completely new card to extend a continuing line. As in after playing a J - Q - J - Q - K - A .... the next card does not have to be a K or 2 - with the wild card you can THEN start running a 5 - 6 - 7 - 6 - 7 - 8. Many people do not know you can do this. And unfortunately zipeaks does not either.

Yes it really needs this, if you have any badges where you have to get large number streaks you have to do this.

ZIPEAKS would instead play J-Q-J until it found a way to STOP THE STREAK because of which peak a card was in. THIS IS THE FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM with ZIPEAKS. It does not play streaks unless it is a deal that "assists" the client. Backwards in my way of thinking how this client should work.

I noticed that, and also, it will frequently not even play the A to K or 2 cards that are available.

I just got to rank 100 (from rank 30) yesterday after many months of actually playing this game. Had to play it because ZIPEAKS 1.6 is a waste of time. I have other games that I play overnight where the client works much, much better. In the past, an earlier, better version of ZIPEAKS got me to rank 30 very quickly.

I think this means that BadgeHelp will now RELEASE an updated version of ZIPEAKS, either 1.7 or 1.8 that will win 70% of the games it plays.

And future TriPeaks players have you to thank for that.... BH was waiting for you to rank out.  Oh gawd.... you're probably right... Murphy's law at it's finest.  Fortunately, I had zz2 on my other computer and used that to rank out.  WTG on ranking out!

Then I wish you would finish up by hand with Operation Mania so they would work on THAT auto.

Actually, that was the FIRST client I did not purchase, EVER from BadgeHelp. Because too many people complained about it and I had been burned by several releases before that one.

So, if BadgeHelp is reading this: I have $5 to spend if you decide us worthy to get a functioning release of this client. :OO :OO :OO

My list keeps growing......Jigsaw GPS, TriPeaks, Hearts, Crazy Cakes, Operation.  I liked the old Pegstreet for Cribbage a game I can't play except it no longer works and Skunker is just not as good.  Kind of like ZipPeaks and ZZ2.  I can't get Jigsaw GPS to solve a puzzle on hard for anything.

It is because of the requests I put into IT here at work. We download "client" versions of databases and programs.

I am a New Englandah living in Northern Virginia.
