it didnt work I tried it 3 times as u dont have much time to hit it and nothing maybe someone else has an idea
I tried this the other day. when setup is almost done if you have the task manger up with the running process of the install when it gets to 100 percent you hit end task. You should only have to do it once to force the installer to stop. Than I rebooted my computer and all was back to normal with msn. Well I tried anyway thats what work for me.
Wnn.........try uninstalling the whole MSN messenger and then redownload it. You could possibly have a corrupted file or something.
I uninstalled msn messanger and it just says it was aborted and then rolls back i will try it with end task already up thanks

For future reference and the possibility of helping someone else, what did the support staff tell you to do?

This is Robert from Windows Live Messenger Technical Support.
I understand that you cannot install Windows Live Messenger and you received error codes 80004004 and 80070643. Let me help you out.
This issue occurs because one of the previous installations puts the computer in a restart pending state. In order to fix this issue, what we will try to do is reinstall Windows Live Essentials on your computer. Please follow the steps listed below.
1. Restart your computer.
2. Visit http://download.live.com (http://download.live.com)
3. Click on the Download button.
4. When the file download dialog pops up, click on Run to launch the installation wizard.
5. Re-install Windows Live Essentials.
If the steps above don't work, try the steps below:
1. Clear the entries in the Windows Installer database by using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:
a. Install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
i. Visit the following website:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/en-us)
ii. Scroll down the page, and then click Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now.
iii. Click Run or Open to install the utility.
b. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Install Clean Up.
c. From the Installed Products list, select an entry that begins with MSN Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Essentials and then click Remove.
d. Repeat step c until all Windows Live Messenger products are removed.
e. Click Exit.
2. Restart your computer to make sure that all changes made will take effect.
3. Install the latest version of the Windows Live Programs from the Windows Live Essentials website: http://download.live.com (http://download.live.com)
