Title: Bumper vs. Norton
Post by: Kita on September 11, 2010, 12:03:34 PM
Can someone please give me instructions on how to temporarily shut down my Norton Anti-Virus so I can get Bumper up and running for this weeks badges?  They used to get along, but now, not so much.

Thanks so much!

I don't have Norton but you should be able to right click the icon in your system tray and disable it

Thanks Homer.  That did the trick.  I completely forgot to right click on those icons!

Cheers!

Same thing here. I had to disable Norton and download and install.  When Norton started back it quarantined the installation file but I already had bumper installed.  I sent Norton an e-mail that this software was safe. That's the first time I have had Norton to block my downloading anything from badgehelp or jackpotspin.
Thanks,
Sue

My Eset also decided it was probably a trojan and quarantined it.  I send a false positive report to them.  First time it didnt like badgehelp.

I forget exactly which auto did that to me a few months ago.

But its not hard to restore the file if it does quarantine, or you can go to Settings>Network Settings>Program Control and allow the program to run
Or under Computer settings, and exclude from further scans to start with.
That way I don't have to disable Norton at all
If enough people use it and send it in, then Norton will know its safe.

I've found in the past you can often lower the security level on your anti-virus and get games to function without entirely disabling your protection.

Ah you don't really want to do that. In most Antivirus or Internet protection software you can allow the program so its trusted..
You just need to know where to make the setting is all.
