Title: HP Pavilion laptop
Post by: Squid on December 13, 2017, 08:36:06 AM
The laptop I bought 2 years ago, and which was serviced a year ago, is now dead.  No signs of life whatsoever.  No lights, no sounds, no fan.  It's almost as if no electricity is making it into the device.  I unplugged everything, tried again and got nothing.  I plugged the cord into a different outlet - nothing.  The on/off switch normally has a light in it even when the computer is off.  There is no light.

The only thing I haven't done is remove the battery and try again.  I'll do that.

Does anyone have any suggestions for powering this thing up so I can get an inkling of what is wrong?

Thank you.

Try removing the battery completely and then plug it in and see if it powers up.

My laptop battery also died a few years back and shorted out. Once I removed the battery, the system booted up just fine.

Removing the battery got it up and running.  The laptop went into an immediate Windows update - I had no choice.  It seems to be running ok, maybe a tad slower.  I'm just happy to have it going.  Thank you.
