They love anything that's hard to squeeze themselves into! Also, my cat always picks the hard way to Jump up on my lap. The easy way is the most obvious yet always ignored. She'll bump her head under the table rather than take two steps to clear it, lol.
Mine was a lap cat as well. He would always lay there and watch what I was doing. He would reach for the keyboard anytime he wanted attention.
