Hello Pogo Community,
You may have noticed a change in the profanity censor in Scrabble. Please understand that this is intended.
Here is how the profanity filter now works:
- You are unable to disable it
- Players will receive the following message if swearing occurs :

- If you continue to swear, you will be kicked out of the game for 24 hours.
If you are experiencing this message and not swearing, please report non-profane words that are being censored*
We at Pogo want to foster an atmosphere of positivity and friendliness. Swearing is not tolerated and, as such, the profanity filter is essential.

How big of a problem was it when Pogo has to go to these measures?
I have to say, I don't think I've ever seen profanity in the rooms. I don't chat much at all but still...
I don't chat much either, but don't recall seeing any profanity
Maybe in private chats? I have my chat filter turned off so if there is any profanity, I'd see it, I think.
What makes me shake my head is why in Scrabble and not other games?
Good point! Maybe they're just testing out the new system first.
Why cannot two people just get along and not use profanity. After all it is just a game.
Scrabble is serious business! undecided.gif
Don't even THINK about taking that Triple Word Score square, bub!
I'm thinking that it is a filter for the game, not chat.
Greetings,
The swearing on today's movies and TV is why my wife and I like the old time movies.

Are you sure? Why is Pogo_llama's chat word censored then?

Who knows, they should be more specific.
Yeah, they should have been more specific about it. Someone needs to test this for us!

Why have these rooms then if it is for chat?

The image/example they used (above) is in a chat room, not a game board. Other players in the room can't see your game board, only your chat. This has to be chat specific. Regarding swearing in a game, all the word games have certain words blocked. If it's not allowable, you can't enter the letters and then hit "play".

Amen to this. There are many things Pogo is vague about, and this is one of them.

Ah, so this profanity filter has to be for chat then!
It makes sense that this applies to in-game profanity. I've never tried to play a naughty word so I wouldn't know, unlike Stinky.

Not in game, chat specific.
Okie dokie
This is definitely about chat, not the game. As you can see, the game will allow me to click the play button to spell the word slut, but when I type the same word in the chat I get warned.

Thank you for testing that for us!
Thank you for posting this about Scrabble.
The question now is ... are they planning to (eventually) use this new profanity filter in all their games?

That's what I wonder, too. Maybe they've added this extra step (the warning) to the profaners (is that a real word?) so that those in the chat rooms don't have to continually look at the ***s all over the screen (IF they have turned on the filter). And, for those who don't know they can turn on the filter, it can be quite a shock to see some of the profanity scroll across the screen. Kids use Pogo, too.
So maybe they're planning to switch all games to auto- filtered. But will they close the "uncensored chat" rooms?
They probably won't close the uncensored rooms. They need to give everyone a place to chat.
