It appears you can't gift, however.
Correction again: You can gift these sale items but you must do it from the classic site, not the new site. Also, on the new site, you must UNCHECK the "Sale" button to see the 4 and 8 gem sale items. If you check the sale box, those items disappear.
I found a few for 4 gems, some for 8 which is 50%, so I'll buy those.

The pogis include 3 @ 200, 3@ 300, 3 @ 400. I got them with my earned gems!

I never bought anything either (outside of Pogo). It seems the US get better deals than we do here. The currency conversion is also a killer for us.

I was pleasantly disappointed - I had hoped to find some great bargains on gifts, or things I can't live without, but my wallet loved that I didn't.
I stand corrected! I was able to find a pair of headphones today at a pretty good discount.
