I'm sorry, I don't know of any way to stop the progress on a badge.  Without finishing what has been activated, I don't know of any way to move forward in the Badge Marathon.  Maybe you could have someone help you with the challenge?

No, you can't go back to previous levels if you have levels you haven't completed.  After you've completed all levels, I think you get random levels.
