Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5 (KB951847) x86

That update would not install.

First thing I would do then, is uninstall it and reinstall it. Then do a Windows Update run after that. The instructions I linked above (the first link) is the best one to review.

No, i mean are you using Internet Explorer 8? That seems to be a common error with IE8. If you are using IE8, the recommendation is to remove it through Add/Remove programs and reinstall it. (you might want to back up your booksmarks first, FYI, if you plan on doing that).

From a search it occurs most often when using IE or Visual basic. Causes can be a virus , firewall issues and the good old standby windows update.  I would bet on a windows update.  If it updated when this started happening roll back to the day before and see if it still happens

Try un-installing & re-installing the Adobe Flash Player.

If that doesn't work then try:
