- November 10, 2017, 05:29:05 PMSSD in a laptop for day to day...then get an external hard drive with USB for storage. That's what I'd do if I got a new desktop. SSD for operating system, HDD for everything else.

Yes they are, and are great in laptops because it really helps keep them cool (SSD's have no moving parts like a normal hard drive does).

For a laptop I'd probably go Asus as my first choice taking into consideration cost. Lenovo would be my 2nd choice with probably Dell being third.
I'm out of the loop on gaming laptops, but be prepared to pay...big. They may be better with graphics/cooling/processing but you'll pay dearly for it. Maybe start researching with something like this: https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2020688,00.asp
