At least Jeffy (wtg Jeffy) doesn't have to ride on his Daddy's name to be somebody.
He actually knows how to drive without Daddy's name.... :)))

J/K I love Dale Sr.
I just don't think Jr. is as good as all his Daddy's fans think he is.

Homer

That's my problem with Junior. For the most part he rides on his daddy's coattails. If he was just another driver he wouldn't get near the coverage he does. I think he is an average driver.

To the Jeffy haters...if you hate him so much tell your driver to beat him to the finish line. :?: IMO Jeffy will go down as one of the top 3 Nascar racers of all time if not the best.

Some moron on ESPN had the audacity to suggest that Junior means more to Nascar now than his father ever did. That is simply ludicrous.

I agree Homer, Gordy has proven to be a fantastic driver his record is going to far surpass Dale Sr. and as for Jr if everyone thinks he is so great how come he isn't stiffer compatition  ..Jr is just popular because of his dad

Oh gee, I'm glad I got ya all going, lol  Never said Jr was a great driver but have said Jeff is one of them.  If Sr had not been killed , DEI's engine dept would never have hit such lows.  The engine dept. is what helps the drivers win races and since DEI stinks, Jr will never get a championship! I used to be a big fan of Jr's  a few years ago when he was winning races, then  something happened-DEI engines went bust and everyone else caught up and passed them.  So now DEI is talking to other teams ie Yates to hire Doug Yates. Here is an article from SceneDaily

SCENEDAILY - 2:22PM ET SUNDAY APRIL 29, 2007 - BY BOB POCKRASS -
ASSOCIATE EDITOR

DAVID GRIFFIN / NASCAR SCENETALLADEGA, Ala. - In attempts to
strengthen its teams and expand to four cars, Dale Earnhardt Inc. has
had preliminary discussions with Robert Yates Racing about a
partnership, as well as Ford Motor Company and another manufacturer,
DEI executive team member John Story confirmed Sunday morning.

While the company also is in the midst of contract negotiations with
NASCAR's most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., DEI is working
toward trying to solidify its future. That means getting the finances
and the technological support it needs from a manufacturer and
working toward fielding a fourth team by 2008 or 2009, said Story,
who oversees sales, marketing and communications activities at DEI.

"It takes both finances and technology to win races," Story
said. "You've got to look at both of them. And then you've got to
take the loyalty factor into consideration with Chevrolet.

"Those are three very big parts of our decision. We have a tremendous
amount of loyalty. The Earnhardts have always been a loyal group. And
at the same time, we have to make sure we have the financial
resources to compete with the best teams in the sport right now. ...
We have to make sure we have all the tools available to us."

Doug Yates, co-owner of RYR, said his team is discussing several
options.

"I've been saying for about a year now, we're trying to figure out
how to get our team stronger," Yates said Sunday. "When you look
around and you look at people bringing in investors - John Henry with
Roush, the Ginn thing - we want to have a strong organization, we
want to be here."

DEI President Max Siegel deferred all questions to Story, who joined
the company in February and said he did not know if the conversations
are further along than the DEI-Yates talks that fell through in 2006.
Story said the latest talks began four to six weeks ago.

"We've had some fairly interesting and meaningful conversations, " he
said. "We haven't exchanged documentation and we haven't sat down and
looked at his operation or ours - we haven't even begun to discuss
how they would be able to work together."

What would be more startling would be the potential move to Ford or
another manufacturer considering Chevrolet's long relationship with
team founder Dale Earnhardt.

"There has been no written documentation between our group or either
of those manufacturers, " Story said. "[The discussions] are what I
would definitely consider preliminary [with others].

"We're going to work through the Chevrolet process first. If there is
a need, then we'll entertain some of these other opportunities. "

The Chevrolet deal is not contingent on Earnhardt Jr. remaining at
DEI, Story said.

"That's not what anybody has said to us," Story said. "We have a
formal proposal from Chevrolet and Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s name is not
in it."

Yates said his team would remain Ford.

"One thing's for sure - our loyalty and allegiance to Ford Motor
Company and our wishes for Ford to be back in the front of the pack
and we're on a mission to do that," Yates said.

Story said that talks with Yates could continue even if DEI remains
with Chevrolet.

"None of this is going to be easy," Story said. "Any of the projects
we're working on, none of them are contingent upon manufacturers and
none of them are contingent upon ... it wouldn't kill anything."

Assoicate Editor Jeff Gluck contributed to this story.

I found it interesting not to mention Dale Jr is  not mentioned lol
