It would've been nice to have a box for us to leave comments.

I agree, but most likely there was so much whining that the folks who had to put everything together couldn't handle (either physically or emotionally) the volume when the comments were requested.  I imagine reading "You guys suck" more than a few times gets very disheartening. 
My theory is that the surveys are most likely there now to lull us into believing that They actually care about what we think.  I've been with Pogo for 22 years: I have earned some of this cynicism.  I still love Pogo though.

You have two years on me, MM.  After 20 years, I've earned my cynicism, too.  While I am guilty of letting them have it when I have the opportunity, I really do try to temper my words and make it productive while being firm in my stance.  I bet I fail sometimes but I try!
