I've seen those halos used (usually cervical vertebrae fractures) and have a tough time accepting that they let the kid's full body weight stress the attachment screws, never mind twirl around in the air like that!  Interesting thought on the the spinal conditions...

I was thinking about getting one for my back but then I thought I'd have to call the fire department to get me out of the thing.
