You want them disabled.
To disable smooth fonts go to
Control Panel
Display
Appearance
Effects
Uncheck the second box and click ok to close all the popups.

My problem is that when I go to PROPERTIES/ APPEARENCE / EFFECTS I click and effects and nothing happens. I do not get another window where the "uncheck smooth fonts" is supposed to be. Am I looking in the wrong place? Is there any place else I can try this. I know hear talk about Firefox but all my "stuff" is on AOL...................... what to do, what to do................... thanks for any help
(and not to over burden you but I can only see about 1/3 of the smilies the rest are boxes with red x's)
Do not use the AOL browser use regular IE
Click this link http://www.pogocheats.net/info.php it will tell you if your smooth fonts are enabled or disabled.
Sun Java is recommended. If you don't have it get it at www.java.com If you choose to continue using VM only check off the box next to JIT Compiler
If you want the FireFox browser get it here http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
