- April 30, 2010, 05:54:22 AMThe only virus I ever got came through Facebook, disguised as a message from a real friend. This happened about 6 weeks ago. It cost me 150 bucks to get my computer back and I lost many of the programs I had. I'm still trying to sort it all out when I find some time. Be cautious if you play on FB.

facebook....I used to be a member but you wouldn't believe the problems I had with my computer. I think it was due mostly to the applications. You never know who or where they originated from, they accept applications from all over the world. But something else bothered me more than that. If you've already joined, I hope you've read the Terms of Service and if you haven't yet but would like to, you should. EVERYTHING you put on facebook becomes the LEGAL PROPERTY of facebook forever. It's no longer just an innocent chat, email, pic or whatever between you and your family and friends. It now belongs to facebook. You can NEVER, EVER get it out of there. Oh yes, you can delete and hide things - but - they're still there and will always be there. And facebook can share anything (in whole or in part) with anyone at anytime. Try deleting all your info, resign and then rejoin. All is as it was when you left.
Also they send out invites to every non member in your address book, without your consent. Some of my friends didn't like that when they got hit with these unwanted facebook invites. Also, they send them on YOUR behalf. A number of friends had previously told me they didn't have time for facebook and not to expect to see them there. If I'd known facebook would do that, I wouldn't have added them to my address book in the first place. That was a real shocker! My account's been retired about 4-5 years now and facebook is still sending me those old familiar invites "from my friends on facebook."
Beware.It's a very popular site. BUT you sign away ALL control when you join.
Remember, everything you post there becomes public. Forever.
