I don't think it's a security thing. They release security patches constantly which is why it is important that your pc have all current windows updates. It's more of a money thing. Microsoft releases a new version of windows every few years because they make millions if not billions from doing so.

ty i use windowns 7 and i find it work great just wondering why would they release 8 must be security reasons no complaint about windowns 7 here good operation system.

Some internet reports say 2012. I would be surprised if it was released on time if the reports are true. The one thing about software is release dates usually get pushed back in a lot of cases
