I'm not an expert on these newer games but I think as you play and make various products, you make money.  As you advance in the "growth" of a crop or farm product, you eventually reach a point where money is made.  Keep matching and merging.  Be sure to do some other jobs in the background like breaking up rocks, chopping down dead trees, working the tool boxes, etc.  They will yield you free products that can be matched/merged.  I'm sure better players than I will chime in.  Good luck
