I have an IBM Thinkpad laptop and it comes with a foward and back button..there right with the arrow buttons....they work the same as your hint does.

A very useful thing I've found when searching on web pages and going from page to another and then wanting to go back is to use ALT.+ the left arrow key, you can do this several times and you will step back several pages without waiting for the page to load before making the next move.
