Make sure that your fonts are not smooth, I remember one time after doing a recovery getting the same error.....I was like wtf is going on it worked before?? Took me over a day to remember the stupid font setting  :-[

I know exactly what you're talking about.  You probably have a newer computer and I find it has something to do with the Java.  My upstairs computer can easilt run WW and WWW however my downstairs computer gives the exact same error you're getting no matter what I do.  As far as I've seen it's not fixable...sorry.

Are you using IE and make sure you use it in word whomp not ww whackdown. ;)
