Lighting hit the telephone line about 20' from my backdoor  & fried my computer through my modem. It took out my home phone & compter. PSA  ... EIC's use a live phone line. Disconnect just like dial-up during storms.

And yep there is nothing slim about electronics getting struck by lightning.  I had a VCR struck about 7 years ago.
