It probably means they can charge more money.

I just purchased a $400 special at Best Buy last month.

If all your doing is playing pogo and using it for normal stuff the cheapies work just as well.

For $400 I got a emachine T3418.

AMD Sempron™ 3400+
• 512MB of DDR memory
• 160GB 7200RPM hard drive
• Double-layer DVD+/-RW
• Two stereo speakers
• nVIDIA® graphics

It's more than enough for a personal computer.

What is the deal with XPS?  What makes that better than a standard computer from Dell??
We have to buy a new one, and honestly the whole process is making me ill.  The computer I have now is a good computer, but it's not got enough umph to run the new programs my hubby will need for his CAM, CAD and something else he does that I can't recall.  And the bummer is that I KNOW in 4 years or less it will be outdated.  I'm not excited about it like I used to be when getting a new computer.
