AVG from Gris soft was my fave, because it does a really good job of real time email scanning, and finds spyware and tracking cookies as well as virus protection. I didn't find it hard to configure at all. I also ran the separate but also free Zone Alarm firewall with it.  I highly recommend Zone Alarm.

Everyone needs a configurable firewall as well as AV, and Zone Alarm is much better than what MS builds into XP. It also gives you info about who's trying to ping into your system. You can do a traceroute on the IP addy in a New York minute.
Alas, Zone Alarm's free version conflicts with the AV software I use now, darn it. I wish they would fix whatever it is that causes a conflict. I miss the little red and green lightbar. :)

Does anybody know of a free dowload for antivirus software?  Something simple and effective, please.  I am not very technical, but can handle basic computer stuff.  Appreciate any help!
