Under the advanced tab what you uncheck is "java logging enabled"...not the java itself.
How do you do it on FireFox?

go to tools, internet options, click on the advanced tab then uncheck java

Does this affect the quality of the game play?

No...Pogo has Java and they log theirs.  If you have problems with games and such, they will ask for yours so most of us turn off java logging.  If you win a prize and claim it, they will review their logs and see how fast you played and how long and if you paused to do something like get a dring or use the bathroom.  If the log looks too much like a computer was playing, aka auto, then they will deny your prize.
