I got a boat load of tips for getting some fixes for Vista..... might help with autos.  Helped me with my downloaded games... especially Ravenhurst which cost me $20.  If you don't want this posted here, I apologize and you can remove
Most of the tips were for the specific game, changing in Security tab to administrator, some kind of download which was probably a patch, but the one in particular that finally made my game run is this one.
In Vista, you can right click on the Icon of the game on your desktop. Then select properties. There is a compatibility tab on the top bar. From there you should see an option to run the program in Windows XP mode.
Hope this helps anyone having problems.
