As a properly raised southern gal, I am ashamed to say that I've never had sweet potato pie. I like sweet potatoes made with oranges, pecans, brown sugar and toasted marshmallows. Is sweet potato pie actually "sweet?' Don't laugh, think of "squash" and if that name indicates what it should taste like.

Yes Barbara sweet potato pie is sweet, because of the ingredients you add to it.  My mom always makes it from my Grandmothers recipe so I would have to ask my Mom what is in it.  But it melts in your mouth and is sweet.  Oh, and I did not laugh at what you said.   :) O0

Pecan pie is the best at our home, along with pumpkin and sweet potato pie.  All are super yummy.   ::) O0

The secret to a really good cherry pie is just a little hint of almond extract in the filling.

I make a really awesome orange meringue pie with a sugar cookie crust and also an apple-walnut, english toffee pie.
Mmm, Barb, wanna freeze that and send it here? Lol, that sounds very good. Pecan, Pumpkin, Coconut Cream, and Chocolate cream, all home made of course, only way it's good. O0
