Maybe they are waiting  til weekend or Monday as most St Pats celebrations are on Monday, even tho the 17th is the real date.  Read that if it falls on Holy Week or a Sunday it is celebrated day before or day after. i didn't know that.  I just checked my calendar and it shows St Pat's day on Monday.
