Tweaking means to change something a little here and there to get it to work.  Not just a computer term.
In my daughters case (on XP) she redownloaded a newer copy to and instead of clicking SAVE, she clicked RUN.  Can't recall what else she did differently.  The patch installed ok.  So her's wasn't an actual tweak, rather she didn't download and install the way the instructions tell you to.

Thanks for the update!  I got mine to work just by right clicking the game icon and selecting Run As Administrator.
I don't understand the Vista glitches, but the computer is already set to run that way.  Vista

I got my upgrade to work!  When we downloaded the game it just put it in C:/ *.* files  or file name or specific folder.  So when the new Patch came out it created new folders under Oberon Media in the program files than it created a folder for all of the games that we have downloaded from them I have 5.  Looked in the C:/ *.* and their was Word Riot Setup.exe file  and the other 4 the exe.files.  So I put that file in the Word Riot file went to run C:/Program Files/Word Riot.exe or setup.exe and than hit OK files up dated and patch went trough.  This can all be done in your control panel.  Try it it might work mine did I just played Word Riot.

Well, I got it fixed.....

Here's the deal.....

I have administrator rights on this computer and have never had a problem.  I just got a reply from EA (less than an hour after originaly contacting them)
and they said Vista users frequently have this problem and that I needed to right click on the game icon and choose administrator rights and then proceed.  I wanted to just send them a reply filled with unlady like expletives, but I decided that I would  do what they said just to humor the moron first.

So, I right clicked on the WR game icon, selected (even though it was already checked) Run As Administrator, started the game from the screen that popped up, clicked ok to update, and sure enough it worked.

Now I have all the expletives floating around in my head and no where to use them.

Maybe I'll go play Word Riot!

I got in using my daughters computer and it seems that it might be a Vista thing.  It seems to be blocking the patch, so
the only alternative will be to reinstall it.  Some of the Vista people in the rooms said they did not lose their hints in the reinstall,
so maybe they are saved in a folder somwhere.
And so far, in the game rooms, it's only Vista users having the problem :(

Yes, I have version 1.0.4.67o  and use XP SP3. Don't reinstall..you will lose your hints.
