This may have nothing to do with your problem and rank progress loss but it's been my experience that, in such cases, we should re-enter the same room we were playing in.  That sort of "locks in" the progress sometimes.  Just thought I'd mention it....

Thanks squid....i got my progress back, I think I just had to wait for the java to catch up.

Well, seems like this is gonna be a hit or miss thing.  I was able to run it for 8 hrs last night before it crashed.

Oh by the way....I run the autos at their default setting and not cranked all the way up.

I've found with some of the games like pop phooey, poppit, poppit show, that by slowing the auto down it stops the game crashing.  It seems like pogo has an issue with going too fast in these games.  The balloons can't keep up with the auto causing the game to stick or not register on the pogo computers.  The tile games like mahjong seem prone to this issue as well.
I've upgraded memory and java before and was able to put the speed up a little, but to play the game for long stretches at a time a slower speed works better.

Update:  I went back to PopFu later this afternoon and saw that I had my rank progress back (thank goodness!).  But the game appears very finicky as to how long it will play before "locking up on me".  It appears that the blank screen (no balloons, but all of the other graphics are there)appears on the main puzzle round.  I suspect that there is a Java issue, but that isnt news to me since there are a few other games that I have to "babysit" Uncle Otto for.  Oh well, unless someone else has any insight into this, I will just have to play while I am home and not leave Uncle Otto unattended.

(Even with Joe C's suggestion of leaving the cursor on top of the gate...this will still occur).

sounds like a java issue

Not sure why this is happening.

This game IS one that you want to keep your mouse over the game screen, I usually put it on the tower or the top of the gate (called a Torii)

You may try to remove the applet and reinstall. Homer can tell you how to do that better than I can.

Not sure if it is game or auto, but i tried PopPhooey out for a few hours last night (while I slept of course) and woke up to the game window with no balloons.  I tried to stop and restart auto, no balloons.  I hit new game, no balloons.  I X'd out of auto and no balloons.  Sooooooo, then I went out of the game, shut down browser, reopened browser, went back to popfu...only to find that I lost all rank progress that i had received from the few hours I let it run.   swear2.gif

Ok no big deal, right?  So I reloaded game room and auto...it played beautifully for about 20 min and the same darn thing happened to where there were no balloons on screen and everything was just sitting there.

I always clear java cache and firefox is always set to clear temp files etc whenever i shut it down.  So I know that is not the issue.

Any clues oh wise ones?
