if you are running windows xp try the following start...control panel....administrative tools....services...scroll to messenger and right click then click properties and when the box comes up down in the middle where it says startup type you want it to be on disable.hit apply and ok and that will stop pop up messages....i used to get these to and now i dont

If Homer's idea doesn't work...

Try Webroot Spysweeper.  I ended up buying this one, although you get a free trial (one definition update).  After I ran Ad Aware and Spybot This came up with some ad and spyware I knew was there but couldn't get rid of before.

When you scanned your system did it turn anything up? If it did you need to select those files and press the fix button. After that be sure to Immunize your system using that feature.

Just for the hell of it do a google search and download CWShredder it's a program that might detect something as well. It is most commonly used to remove the CoolWebSearch toolbar which comes loaded with spyware.

ok all im at my wits end here tryed it homer and scanned and still getting these dang pop ups they are like ads for casinos and other games and cell phone ads......i cant figure out why im getting these me and my wife go to the same sites and she has the same pop up blockers that i have and she dont get them but i do???????

they jsut appear as im switching pages.... homer and i have tryed adware but it tells me theres a file that cannot be found so it wont load on my puter????

Have you tried a spyware or adware sweeper?

Try Ad-Aware.  It's free and one of the best.

Can you give me an idea of what kind of popups they are? Are they popups that happen when you visit websites or are they windows messenger type popups?

im having alot of trouble with pop ups i have tryed google toolbar pop up blocker and yahoo toolbar pop up blocker but yet i still get pop ups really bad.....Does anyone have any suggestions that might help with my delima????? Thank you all for all your help.....
