I've had to do the same thing.  The pop up isn't the problem.  To be perfectly honest, Mayhem, my account had gotten the tokens earlier today and when I later went in, I didn't realize I got the tokens, so of course I didn't get them again.  MEA CULPA!  Sorry.

I did, however, check on the pogo page and none of these games today are listed for extra tokens.  The last token date was in November and the next isn't until next week.  I have no 'splanation for that.

I didn't get any tokens. 
I hate to argue with the big kahuna but pogo says this:
