The ones I fed were really brave. They would sit on my lap and shell the peanut and start eating it right there.

I've also had one sit on my hand. What surprised me is that they're really soft and weigh nothing.

I've never been successful with squirrels.  I almost got a deer to take a piece of apple from me.  Didn't quite get there.

I want him for my neighbor!  In the winter, after a fresh snow, if I hold my hand out the window with seeds in the palm, the chickadees will land on my hand and feed.  You can barely feel them land, they are so light.  Love it - it makes me feel like Snow White.

I've never had a woodpecker hand feed with me.  The second bird is the chickadee.
