Well before I tried unchecking the java, I went ahead and done a FULL shutdown, instead of a restart, and now it is working Perfect. Thanks for all your suggestions. Just shoulda done the obvious first

changed resolution - and all it says - connection type 1 - start pop fu in browser

2) Browser Internet Explorer
3) Color setting 32 bit
4) Screen resolution 800x600
5) Smooth edges of screen fonts checked or unchecked ? I am using the standard methods of smoothing edges
6) What Java you are using - Microsoft VM
7) Is anything at all happening when you start the program - "start pop fo in browser" that is it

I got my new code for Pop Phooey, but all it does during the game is set there.
