Humanity is not really any more sickening than any other species.

Understatement of the millennium! we humans have the conscience to see and understand what we're doing but yet we still choose to treat everything with such carelessness and disrespect  ::)

such as deer hunting..killing deers just for the fun of it! common man their just trying to live their lives just as we are...its disgusting

ronandamee1

Killing deer is not only fun, its NECESSARY. We have to keep the deer population down to keep them in the woods and away from our playgrounds. What happens when Bob is whipping down the road in his F350 and some stupid deer is just standing in the road. By killing deer we give Bob's F350 better odds of making it.

its ok for humans to overpopulate the world but its not for deer, hmmm  ::) they have just as much right to this world as we do... posts like that prove my point exactly

bob@pogopal

Element,

When nothing culls the deer, the deer starve to death in winter, which is a very horrible death. I am quite happy to have wolves and coyotes cull the deer, but in areas where the coyote and wolf populations are too low, human hunting is necessary to prevent extinction. It is an irony of nature that the prey cannot thrive without the predator, and the predator fills an important niche in nature.

Aside:

I had a friend in university who was 6'9" tall so he stood out in a crowd. His parents fled east germany when they saw the wall going up so he was raised to be rather anti-communist. He lived in a rural area near Toronto and his hobbies included hunting and running a trap line.

One day as he was passing the area where the various student groups set up their booths to prosyletize, the communist party booth was next to an animal rights booth. He stopped to read some of the animal rights literature. When the young woman attending the booth got excited that she might have a sympathetic ear and approached him, he announced his hobby as a trapper.

As the young woman started berating him for being evil incarnate, another young woman attending the communist party booth jumped in to defend the poor workers in remote rural areas whose entire livelihoods depend on hunting and fishing.

He hardly had to say anything at all, and as he walked away, two people representing groups he detested were almost in a physical fight. lol

/Aside

While I do not hunt, I do have venison in my freezer from some of my algonquian relatives. I agree that deer are beautiful, and I think cattle, bison, goats, fish and fowl are beautiful too. As are fishers, bears, cougars, snakes, eagles, osprey, coyote, wolves, weasels, badgers and lynx. I don't find humanity any less beautiful than these other predators. I don't know a single hunter who wastes the animals he or she kills, and humanity is far from the only predatory species.

Might I suggest a little more Nugent and a little less Dylan?

The world has some very good people and some very bad people. Most of us are somewhere in the middle. Good people sometimes do bad things, and bad people sometimes do good things. To some measure, we each get to decide whether to have a good character or a bad character. Choose to have a good character and cheer up.

I could be wrong, but you seem sad. Perhaps, you would be better off doing fun things with friends and family than hanging out online.

where do you get this stuff about me being "sad" bob....I can decide what i want to do with my time on my own and i don't need your opinion so i would appreciate it if you kept it to yourself!   :(

Yes i do understand the world need predators just as much as prey and i don't have a problem with that but what irritates me is the people that kill deers just to have them as trophies.  ::) Its not just deers though...you know even the people that put mouse poison down on th ground for mice to eat.....or spray a bee hive with poison just because it was too close to their house  :(

You have contradicted a previous post in which you said, "spellcheck spellcheck spellcheck" and even that is two words.

I am not wanting a pissing contest with you Element, but you are extremely hypocritical.

Ah.. well so be it I cant even find the post now, and I just really think it was you.  Ok, so it was an honest mistake, my apology.

I really wish this whole forum would just tone down a few notches.  I don't know what's going on in all of your lives, but this forum has just been outraged as a whole lately (as in the main posters) and its just ridiculous.  I have been trying to not post, using my better judgment, but I have let a few slip.

I think I am just going to be an on lurker for a while.  I will post a temporary goodbye when I depart for basic training in the next month with the Army National Guard.

Mice carry disease and I don't like being stung by bees. If there is a bee hive on or within a close proximity to my home-I will spray it.

Here's a humane story for you though.
I just moved into a new house two months ago. My daughters are 6 months and 18 months old. We were in the living room watching Dora the Explorer when a mouse came running across the floor into the corner. I immediately ordered my wife into the kitchen with the kids and got the swifter to kill the mouse with. I pulled all the furniture into the middle of the room so I could get a better shot at it. As I closed in on the mouse my conscience got the better of me(it was the size of a pill bottle), so I traded my swifter in for my bare hand. I chased that goddamn mouse around for an hour until I caught it alive. It now lives in a cage that I purchased the next day with a wheel and a bunch of tubes for it to climb in. Decency got the best of me. Other people are gonna do what they are gonna do no matter what anyone says.
I'm sorry in advance for all who witness this. It completely disgusted me!

I found the site that was posted on, the original one, and it was a commercial for that vehicle and no animals were injured in the making.  They also have a commmercial with a bird flying into the hood and it flinging open extremely fast knocking the bird to the ground at a high rate of speed.  I dont think it was a good judgment made by the company of this vehicle (I forget what it is) but as long as no animals were hurt, I am ok.

Get a cat. Haven't seen a mouse in the house in the 2 1/2 years I've had them. It's almost as if the mice know you have a cat. Kind of like a burglar seeing a car with a club figures it's too much work and moves to the next car. LOL

In reference to the forum being a bit heated lately. Yes, maybe it has. Anytime you have people with different opinions on a subject it is very easy to have a discussion turn into an argument. Both sides feel strongly about their opinions. People aren't always going to agree with each other. I believe the key is to state your beliefs and not make it personal or take it personally. ;)

You're kidding right?  Of all the people that kill animals because they are twisted sadistic people, I would rank Ted Nugent as one of the all time crazy hunters... That guy is a freaking nut...

As for my statements on Marxists socialism, I stand by them 100%.  I'll defend my arguements on them forever (or until I am convinced absolutley without a doubt; as I'm sure that you will stand by your ideals on hating those damn crazy Marxists)...

bob@pogopal

Hi Fatkid,

If you are obstinate enough to ignore more than a century of strong empirical evidence that Marx was an evil moron, there is no hope for you.

Fatkid, I agree that ole Ted seems to have a screw lose but I have seen an interview with him and he claims to only kill what he eats. Is it true? I guess only Ted knows. ;)

Hi Homer,

What makes you think he has any screws loose? Have you ever listened to what he has to say?

Homer

Yes Bob, I have seen him speak. He is obviously an intelligent person but I don't necessarily agree with all of his views. ;)

Everyone has an opinion or two I disagree with. That's what makes the world interesting. It doesn't necessarily mean they have any screws loose, though.

Quite frankly, the myth that anyone who is not a socialist must be crazy and/or evil is how the socialists grab the reigns.
